Running head: VISION STATEMENT
Vision Statement
Have you ever considered the number of elements that are essential for an effective
classroom? These are the thoughts running through educators’ minds on a daily basis. As a future
educator, I am constantly learning about what it takes. The main elements that are essential to me
are my vision for teaching, important qualities to possess, and creating a student-centered
classroom.
Many educators have their vision for teaching and learning to guide the way their
classroom is managed. This vision will help create the teaching style, instruction and relationship
creating with each student. One of these visions is to teach to every student’s learning style.
There are many benefits of multiple intelligence awareness included when educating the
classroom. Some of these include authentic learning, highlighting students’ strengths, and
implementation in teaching is representing every child’s culture within the classroom, which can
be achieved by utilizing multicultural and various races within classroom curriculum and
materials. The last classroom implementation that is vital is building relationships with every
student in the classroom, which could be the “make or break” of a student’s success or failure.
The student and teacher relationship can be formed by a secret handshake, attending sporting
events, or asking them about their lives outside of school. A little goes a long way with students
When people think about what characteristics make-up a quality teacher, there are a few
things that come to mind. The first essential quality is organization. This will come in hand when
planning lessons, being an effective classroom manager, and keeping up with the many tasks
needing to be completed day by day. The next crucial attribute desired in a successful educator is

flexibility. “Effective teachers need to be able to work in a constantly evolving environment and
adjust their teaching methods based on the age of their students, the resources available and
changing curriculum, practices, and requirements ("Concept to Classroom: Tapping into multiple
intelligences - Explanation," n.d.). The last characteristic that creates an effective teacher is the
children and have a variety of unique ways of educating every child. If we can possess these
A student-centered classroom allows for the students to create the flow of the lesson
while the teacher is a facilitator. This does not mean that the teacher sits back and relaxes, but
rather he or she walks around correcting misconceptions or doing small group pull outs for
cooperative learning structures. These organize classroom instruction, are content-free, and
repeatable. Structures also incorporate the P.I.E.S which makes cooperative learning truly
effective (Kagan, 6.2). Lastly, an imperative aspect of teaching centered around students learning
is creating engaging, relevant activities. To achieve this, an educator “can set up classroom
activities that virtually compel learners to focus more attention on the task. Encouraging students
to set their own goals, share them with others, and talk about why they chose them” (Jensen,
2005, p. 37). This gets students excited to complete the task at hand and work towards success in
their goals.
Being able to possess a vision and qualities for teaching while implementing a student-
centered classroom is my main goal as a future educator. When teachers incorporate their
students into the curriculum and value relationships with their students, it creates a classroom
that is organized and innovative for every child’s learning style. My greatest goal in teaching is

to help get students excited about learning and encourage them in all aspects of life. Teaching is
not for the weak at heart, but for those ready to open their heart to every child.
