Summarisation Assignment

Topic: Future of Globalisation in the Aftermath of the Crisis

Hello dear Prof. and my classmates,

I’m Wai Lynn Aung from Myanmar. Today I’d like to summarise the article entitled
“Future of Globalisation in the Aftermath of the Crisis”.
My summary is divided into 3 parts. The first part is about how reviewers commented
on globalisation after the global crisis. Some advantages of globalisation in the manufacturing
sector will be discussed in the second one, and the final part is the conclusion.
My summary will last about 3 minutes. At the end of my discussion, I will invite your
questions or comments. Now, please let me begin.
First, I will discuss how reviewers commented on globalisation after the global crisis.
The author of the article entitled “Future of Globalisation in the Aftermath of the Crisis”
explains that there were many reviewers who blamed globalisation for spreading worldwide
after the global crisis since many nations required financial rescues for the secondary crisis
after the crisis in the United States. However, the author indicates that globalisation offered, in
spite of the drawbacks of globalisation, a platform for competing benefits. the writer also states
David Ricardo’s theory that the trading among countries has more advantages than when it is
isolated.
Then, I will discuss some advantages of globalisation in the manufacturing sector.
There was an increase in innovativeness and creativity because of globalisation. The ability to
reduce the use of rare resources for expensive innovation and invention in the Western world
was due to the inexpensive production of component parts in Eastern countries. Additionally,
U.S. companies could focus more on developing and researching advanced designs of future
products when Chinese industries took more responsibilities for production. Some other
advantages of globalisation are the development of living standards in Asian countries and the
capability to share one country’s best practices to others.
As a conclusion, the author pointed out that if some fundamental issues such as over-
producing, excess consumption and hazardous practices, e.g. banking, are properly managed,
global businesses can combat together against the difficulties of the global economy, therefore,
many professionals have encouraged the world’s nations to remove their isolationist barriers
and have highlighted the necessity of globalisation. Furthermore, the author believes that
people should focus more on escalating efficiencies instead of benefits. The more increase in
efficiencies, the more growth in profits and effectiveness.
