what they are doing with the
technology). The teacher will have the students logged into a Zoom meeting
so that everyone can communicate for the beginning of the
lesson and questions can be answered in a large group format.
The zoom meeting will allow all students to watch the videos
together and discuss healthy choices they make throughout
their days.
To begin, the students will be able to link to a YouTube video
that addresses what it means to eat healthy.

Pedagogy

The teacher will further the discussion by asking students to

share via online chat their favorite healthy snack and their
favorite junk food. We will talk about why the students think it is
important to eat a balanced diet before beginning the
simulation as individuals via the link :

Activities#programs
From this link, students can choose from three simulations,
“Meal Time,” “Snack Shack,” or “Chef of the Day.” Each of the
three simulations demonstrates the different types of foods and
explains via the food analyzer what makes the food healthy or
unhealthy. Meal Time allows students to pick the meal they are
most interested in learning healthy choices for and explore
options, while snack shack allows the students to not only gain
more understanding how healthy snack choices, but also to
practice addition and subtraction skills in dealing with money
since they have a spending limit. The Chef game gives freedom
to create a recipe using all of the food groups and build/cook a
healthy meal they could share with the family.

During the time where students are working independently, the

Zoom meeting will still be opened and the teacher will be
available for discussion and/or any questions the students have.
