INTRODUCTION

On this auspicious day of December 6, 2019, marking the 94th Thirunakshathiram

of Villivalam HH 45th Pattam Srimadh Azhagiya Singar - SriVann Satakopa Sri
Narayana Yateendra Mahadesikan, I seek blessings from our acharyas. I consider
it my good fortune to share this write-up.

ACHARYA VAIBHAVAM

• Born in Thirumalai Nallan Chakravarthy Vamsam at Villivalam Agraharam

(North Arcot District) during Akshaya Varusham, under the Uttaratadhi
Nakshatram, in the month of Karthikai of Akshaya Varusham (December 12,
1926). I am the sixth son of Shri Pazhaveri Chakravarthy Narasimhachari and
Shrimati Ranganayaki Ammal.
• Poorvashrama Thirunamam : Sri U. Ve Villivalam Krishnamachaarya Swami
• One of the poorvashrama elder brother who was very instrumental in Swami's
sampradayic interest and scholarship: Shri 'Vedantha Vavadhooka'
Narayanachariar
• Learnt kavya natakams under the guidance of his father.
• After his father attained paramapadham, learnt Tarka Shastam under the
guidance of his elder brother who also performed Brahmopadesam.
• Completed his Sironmani at Madurantakam Kala Saalai.
• Did Vedanta Kalakshepam under 42nd Pattam Injimedu Srimadh Azhagiya
Singar.
• Performed Kaashaya Kainkaryam for 42th Pattam Injimedu Srimadh Azhagiya
Singar & considered Srimadh Azhagiya Singar to be everything - Dharakam,
Poshakam and Bhogyam.
• Samashrayanam under 42nd Pattam Injimedu Azhagiyasinghar in 1940
• Performed Bharanyasam under 43rd Pattam Devanarvilagam Srimadh
Azhagiya singar.
• Swami entered Grihastashramam in 1944 (18 years age) and married daughter
of Vidwan Kaniyambakkam Srinivasacharya.

• As per niyamanam of 44th pattam Mukkur Srimadh Azhagiya Singar performed
aradhanam at Sri Sannidhi as an Aaradhakar.
• As per niyamanam of Mukkur HH 44th Pattam Srimadh Azhagiya Singar took
Sanyashramam on PrajOtthpatti varusham, aippasi, utthirattaathi, October
21st 1991 in Srirangam at the age of 65 years.
• His poorvashrama elder brother was very instrumental behind the scholarship
of our Srimadh Azhagiya Singar and hence Srimadh Azhagiya Singar had "Sri
Narayana" in his thooriyaashrama(Sanyashrama) name.
• After, 44th Azhagiyasingar attained Paramapadam on 24th August 1992,
famously called "'Chinna Azhagiya Singar" continued all the kainkaryam of
Mukkur HH 44th Pattam Srimadh Azhagiya Singar, by taking up the reigns of
Sri Ahobila Matam with Grand Pattabhishekam on AngIrsa varusham, AvaNi,
Thiruvathirai Nov. 24, 1992 under the holy presence of Paravakkotai Srimadh
Andavan Sri Gopala Desika Mahadesikan.
• HH 45th Pattam Villivalam Srimadh Azhagiya Singar travelled the length and
breadth of India several times and spread the SriVaishnava sampradayam to
the sishyas of Sri Sannithi.
• To continue the SriMatam kainkaryam, HH 45th Pattam Srimadh Azhagiya
Singar appointed one of the greatest scholar of the times & nithya agnihothri
Sri Rangarajan, our beloved Shri Ranganatha Yateendra Mahadesikan as his
successor on May 8th 2009.
• As per the will of Malolan, after 22 years of Kainkaryam, HH 45th Pattam
Srimadh Azhagiya Singar ascended to Paramapadham on Vijaya Varusham,
Vaikasi 5th, Navami, Pooram, Sunday, May 19th 2013 at the age of 87 years.
• HH 45th Pattam Srimadh Azhagiya Singar Brindavanam is located next to the
HH 44th Azhagiya Singar's Brindavanam in Dasavathara Sannidhi in Srirangam.
• On May 23rd 2013, as per with the wishes of HH 45th Pattam Srimadh
Azhagiyasingar and Sri Matam traditions, HH 46th Pattam Srimadh Azhagiya
Singar's grand pattabhishekam happened and the holy kainkaryam continues
in our Sri Matam, thus ensuring the Shishyas of Sri Matam get the grace of Sri
Malolan.

GOLDEN ERA OF SRI SANNIDHI

Villivalam HH 45th Pattam Srimadh Azhagiya Singar's 22 years at Sri Sannidhi is

considered as Golden Era in Sri Ahobila Mutt due to his various Kainkaryam, some
of which listed below.
• Made the inaccessible "Sendru Kaanbhatharku ariya kovil" i.e dense forest of
Ahobilam easily accessible by transforming the divya kshetram as "Sendru
kaanbhatharku Yeliya Kovil"
• Kainkaryam at many Divya desam including Pandiyan kondai in Rathnam for
Thiruvallur Veeraraghavan.
• Golden Madapam for Sri Malolan at Sri Sannidhi
• New Ahobila Mutts were built in various places like Bhadrachalam, Puna,
Kadappa, Selaiyur, USA etc.
• Pattasaalai flourished paving way to learning our Sampradayam
• Sri Nrisimha Priya English Magazine was started
• Great Scholar and Vedanti who is famous and known for his enthusiastic, easy
to understand lucid upanyasams, kalakshepams and participation in Vidhwa
Sadhas both in Poorvashramam and Sanyashramam.
• A great Rasikar of Archavataram of Perumal and it is a great sight for Shishyas
to see Srimadh Azhagiya Singar enjoying Archavataram.
• One who honored all the scholars of his times.
• Has many literary works to his credits and contribution of scholarly articles to
Sri Nrisimha Priya.
• Greatest among his literary contribution is the magnum opus Ahnika
Grantham which details all dharma anustanam for daily life. After 27th pattam
Srimadh Azhagiya Singar, this great treasure of Aahnika Grantham has been
given to the Shishyas by our beloved Villivalam Srimadh Azhagiya Singar.
• Spread the prabhavam of Sri Adivan Satakopa Jeeyar by publishing a stamp
through Government of India.

My salutations/worship unto nArAyaNa yOgi who
a. Obtained/Learnt ubhaya-vEdAnta from Injimedu Srimadh Azhagiya Singar
b. took refuge at the lotus feet of Devanarvilaga Srimadh Azhagiya Singar
c. was the recipient of the merciful glances of Mukkur Srimadh Azhagiya Singar
d. is attracted to the royal command of Lord Ra~nganAtha.

Allied features to be remembered for the above four things respectively:
* Ubhaya-VEdAnta kAlakshEpam and also SamASrayaNam under Injimedu Srimadh
Azhagiya Singar.
* Bhara-nyAsam, apart from Ubhaya-VEdAnta kAlakshEpam too under
DEvanArviLAgam Azhagiya Singar.
* Nominated as a yati by Mukkur Azhagiya Singar.
* The sannyAsa-Aashrama svIkAram took place at SrI-ra~ngam.
* SaThAri refers to one who the enemy of SaTha vAyu, which actually influences
the new born babies to get bounded by prakRuti ie.samsAra. Since NammAzhvAr
controlled the SaTha-vAyu, he is addressed as "SaThAri". SaThakOpa implies a
similar meaning. SaThajit also refers to the same meaning.
(ji => To conquer).
* The first AchArya of SrI Ahobila Muth is SrI Aadi-vaN SaThakOpa JIyar. Intimate
connection got established between this JIyar and NammAzhvAr when the former
obtained the latter's archa-mUrti at AazhvAr thirunagari and re-concecrated it. The
title "vaN-SaThakOpa" is used for all the JIyars who followed this JIyar. Some JIyars
had "SaThakOpa" as a part of their thirunAmam (name) also. The first JIyar was
named as
"SaThakOpa" Yati by Lord Lakshmi NRusimha.
* ra~nga-SaThAri refers to SrI SrIra~nga SaThakOpa yatIndra - mahAdESika,
popularly known as In~jimETTu Azhagiyasi~ngar (42nd paTTam). yati-indra implies
"Prince of Yatis". Originally, Bhagavad RAmAnuja was known as "YatIndra" and
"YatirAja". Many sannyAsis of this sampradAyam do caryy over that title. dESika
implies "AchArya".
* samyami is same as yati Or SannyAsi. To be more specific, it refers to one who
has controlled all indriyas and mind, for performing yOga/dhyAna on SrIman
NArAyaNa,the Para-Bramhan.
* samyamivarAt + labdha = samyamivarAllabdha.
* labh => To obtain.

* aagama-anta-dvayam refers to Ubhaya-VEdAnta. aagama-anta is the end of
aagama ie.vEdas, which is vEda-anta = vEdAnta. Ubhaya-VEdAnta => Twin-
VEdAnta, comprising that of Sanskrit as well as Tamil (by AzhwArs).
* vIra-raghUtvahAdya-SaThajit : This refers to SrI VIrarAghava yatIndra
mahAdESika, popularly known as dEvanArviLAgam Azhagiyasi~ngar (43rd paTTam).
The middle word refers to one born in the lineage of King Raghu, implying the
name Raghava (RAma).
* avatamsa refers to "crown". vEda-avatamsa refers to vEdAnta.
* vEda-avatamsa-dESika-yatEH refers to SrI VEdAnta dESika yatIndra mahAdESika,
popularly known as MukkUr Azhagiyasi~ngar (44th paTTam).
* vIkshA implies seeing,glance.
* dhurINaH implies "Chief" Or "Lord" / "Master". ra~nga-dhurINa implies
ra~nganAtha.
* SAsanam implies "Royal Command" or "Law".
