General Note: The Edit manipulators must be applied to an object before it has been
assigned to any tasks. After an object has been assigned to a task, it can be moved using
the Edit as Assigned manipulators. The Edit as Assigned manipulators also allows you to
vary the location, rotation, or scale of an object separately for each of the tasks it is assigned
to.

The same Crawler Crane is to be used on four tasks. It will need to be located in a different
location for each of these tasks, so for this you use the Edit as Assigned command. Image
below: Only one 3D Crane imported - But 3 shown!

Using the ‘free’ Synchro Training Building Tutorial file. Import and select the Crawler
Crane in the 3D window.

Select: Install on Ribbon (see below image). Select the Crawler Crane and assign to
Structural Framing, Area 1, Area 2, Area 3.

Re-select the Crawler Crane again and pick Equipment Remove from top ribbon & Assign
to Structural Framing Area 4.

Now select Crawler Crane in 3D window – Right-click, hover over Edit as Assigned.

The Crawler Crane is already in the correct location for Structural Framing, Area 1, so
select Edit as Assigned -> Task [Structural Framing, Area 2] -> Edit Resource (complex).

The Focus Time will snap to the center of the task and Advanced Manipulator will appear
on the 3D resource (Crawler Crane). Use the XY plane manipulator and the Z axis rotation
icon to move/rotate the crane so it is facing the center of the building.

Repeat above steps for Structural Framing, Area 3 and Area 4.

Now move Focus Time through all 4 tasks to see how the crane appears around the site at
the various locations. The crane will disappear at the end of the last assigned Task.

Note: I deliberately overlapped the Tasks in the Gant chart (see image below) and dragged
the Focus Time to see if the cranes did actually appear simultaneously.

Therefore, it is advisable to use the Edit As Assigned command when you need to have
multiple copies of the same object within your Synchro Model (instead of importing the
same 3D object again, and again and........

What a timely post, Jon! I'm currently working on a crane plan and just yesterday I found myself
looking for a way around this issue. Go Synchro!

This tutorial came about from a Synchro training session with Pawel who recommended the
'Edit As Assigned' feature instead of repeatedly importing the same objects into the 4D
model...I'm surprised there isn't an official workflow for this within the Synchro Training
Manual...but It's only a matter of time!
