EXPRESSION MODULE

DESCRIPTION
In my Expression Project I want to talk about how I think that
technology is beneficial in the classroom. I wanted to get the point
across that technology has ways to help individual students learn
because not all of them learn the same. Technology is way more
advanced today than it was in earlier years and I think that based on
what we can find online and these educational websites is how each
student can find ways that help them the best in the classroom.

PROJECT MEDIUM (MULTIMEDIA)

For this project I think that since I chose to talk about the benefits of
technology in the classroom, I wanted to make the point of how
students have different learning techniques. Some students can take
in information by simply just listening, but other students may be
visual learners and sometime taking notes isn’t the best option for
them. They may be writing the information down, but to them it just
looks like a bunch of words on a page. For me personally, I like to
have activities to do or practice sheets so that if I mess up I can
learn from my mistakes and keep on trying until I understand what I
did wrong and how I can do it right.
 With technology, there are so many of these educational sites
and activities that we can find online so that students can learn.
These sites are there3 for the students and as an educator I want all
my students to have the same opportunities and equal chances to
succeed in school.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF MULTIMEDIA

With my chosen media I know that there are many benefits to

come with technology. Kids will have more opportunities and access
to really understand what their learning. Since we are already aware
of learning disabilities and how students learn, it will only grow and
that now these students will have an equal chance at learning. I
think that with technology these softwares and sites will become
more applicable and have a greater impact on the students.

POTENTIAL CHALLENGES OF MULTIMEDIA

I think that some of the challenges of technology is that once you

are on the web, you are unlimited to searching up anything that you
want. My mother is a schoolteacher, 3rd grade, and just last year she
was doing an activity on the chrome books with her students. There
was one student who went on YouTube and looked up a very scary
and disturbing video and showed it to his classmates. The students
were very upset and my mother was shocked that he did that. I
think that if I were to use technology in the classroom, teachers
need to make clear and find ways to block certain sites. Even though
the students may have access to all of this at home, the classroom is
not the place to be messing around on the internet. I would only
allow the students to access sites such as google docs, google slides,
and have certain sites that you can find on google blocked. There
are safety features that you can apply on your devices and I would
want to be very aware of that and make sure that it is in place.

 How technology is beneficial in the classroom. How teachers

are not only just teaching the class, but individual students as
well so students are not overlooked.
 Talking about how students learn differently than others and
educators need to be aware of that and find ways that can
benefit their learning.
 Example: the article, How Technology is Taking a toll on
Education. Technology is sweeping through classrooms and is
enhancing education.
 Technology allows educators to accommodate different
learning styles on case-to-case basis. Benefits not just the
students but also the teachers so that they know how their
students learn.
 Example: Dream Box is a math educational software that
allows students to work at their own pace and it adapts to
their skill levels.
 Personal experience: I used MyLab my freshman year of
college. I took an exam to see what I did and did not know in
the courses we were going to go through during this class,
and it set me at a place where I could focus on areas I was
not strong in and needed more work on.
 These software’s help students go at their own place where
they can actually succeed and learn rather than be put into a
class where they do not have the basic understanding of what
they are learning.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Ten years from now I hope that I am comfortable and

confident about our educational system. I want to know that after
my years of going to school and being an educator that, when I have
kids, I know that they are being out into good hands and will do well

in school. I want to know that every school can be the best school
for their students and I should not have to look for the school with
the highest academics. I hope that as an educator myself, in ten
years that education will have more of an importance and it will be
highly appreciated. Meaning that I think right now education is
overlooked and that this system has a lot more growing to do and I
think technology will help speed up the process. I think that if
technology is highlighted as a positive and is used appropriately in
the classroom it will stop being a distraction. Obviously social media
is still going to be around, but I hope that it will become more
separate from the classroom. I also hope that education will become
more of a fun thing rather than just work because I don’t want my
kids to hate going to school or having to do homework and projects.
I think that with what I learned from this course, technology can be
very fun and interesting on the educational side and that the
educators in the future will find and develop more ways to make it
possible. Already as a sophomore in college I am excited to see what
we can do with technology and I am hopeful that it will be used for
the good for future generations.
