Checklist
Elizabeth has had a successful internship experience where she taught Grade 7-Religion, Health, and Humanities. She also
sssisted in coaching the Junior Boys Volleyball team on top of her teaching responsibilities. As Elizabeth discovered during
er internship these extra activities can go a long ways in creating positive and lasting relationships with students and the
arent community. She became mote fully involved as a staff member by attending events put on by the school for the school
Dommunity and by participating in staff activities during the day as Elizabeth truly believes in school as family, which also
allowed her to truly have an all-encompassing teaching experience. Her Teacher Mentor was impressed with her teaching
aut also her commitment to the school overall.
Elizabeth integrated her Professional Project and Growth Plans which tied in wonderfully to her teaching. Her project involved
he use of technology in core subject areas which would then allow her to create an online resource for teachers to access.
This was timely for Elizabeth, as St. Joseph’ s School, was involved in an Edwin Pilot project where students had access to
:hromebook. She then created assignments that could be accessed at home and at school. In addition, Elizabeth created a
growth plan that focused on assessment, effective classroom management and co-curricular involvement. I have to
aongratulate Elizabeth as her online project is excellent and her well thought-out growth plan did, in fact, have a very positive
mpact on her teaching.
Her planning was excellent, as it was thorough and thoughtful. She utilized the school resources and used them to create
affective and engaging lessons. Elizabeth was very aware of the educational and emotional needs of her students and thus
areated lessons and assignments which took into consideration all of these factors. In her planning Elizabeth had her students
ork on project-based learning, which proved to be an excellent strategy as this truly engaged her students.
Elizabeth successfully utilized a variety of assessment tools both for formative and summative assessment. Her students
knew that Elizabeth was very approachable as she welcomed those interactions which allowed her even more insight into
what each student had learned during her lessons. Opportunities to work through an assignment again or retake a test was
always an option. Her students were aware of how they stood in terms of their learning and were given ample opportunities to
improve.
Elizabeth’ s teaching was guided by the needs of her students. It was very apparent when observing Elizabeth that she knew
her students. This allowed for very effective planning. As the internship evolved so did her relationship with the students, as
she was viewed as the teacher”
In all aspects of my interactions with Elizabeth, I found her to be very professional and had the utmost concern for the
well-being of her students. Her correspondence with me was timely and of high quality. Her work in this internship has
demonstrated engaging lessons, excellent planning, constant willingness to improve, and an extremely approachable manner.
In my opinion, Elizabeth will be an excellent addition to the teaching profession and to any staff that is fortunate to have her.
