Human Resource Practices at Kohinoor Textile Mills Limited

Following are the key HR policies that are implemented at KML:

1. Recruitment
Hiring and keeping hold of the most able and eligible candidates. It is imperative, in order to
achieve the company’s goals, to find the right people and place them at the right place.

2. Training and Development


Committed to provide the training and development of the highest order to further improve and
enhance the HR resources of the company. Provide the company’s manpower with the latest
knowledge and technology; improve the attitudes of employees, provide organizational support
and compel (without being forceful) the workers to improve their skills. The purpose of this is to
assist the company in achieving its goals in the most efficient and effective manner. Also, to
make the workers realize that if they put in effort the company will reciprocate in kind and help
them with beneficial behavior.

3. Management and appraisal of performance


Helping employees in reaching the level at which they can work impressively and suggest
methods to further increase the employees’ potential utility. This gives a chance to recompense
good performers and highlight the deficiencies of the employees who are not up to the required
level.

4. Policy regarding promotion


To advance individuals from inside whenever the need arises, keeping in mind the qualifications,
experience, ability, suitability and leadership skills of the individual. The promotion policy must
be fair, non-discriminatory and unbiased.

5. Commitment of Management Trainee Policy


Hiring fresh graduates at levels of entry so that the company’s future demands could be met. Use
this opportunity to spot youngsters with leadership skills and groom them to become future
leaders.

6. Policy regarding motorbikes and automobiles


Give a set of rules to characterize, screen and control the strategy with respect to the vehicles that
are provided by the company to specific groups and are maintained by the company.

7. Policy regarding travel within the country


Providing a set of travel guidelines to the employees and deciding the compensation the company
is entitled to when employees’ are responsible for any extra expenses incurred whilst they are on
business trip within the country.
8. Policy regarding transfer
Providing a set of transfer guidelines to the employees. Make sure the employee who is being
transferred is fully aware of the reason of transfer, is aware of the task ahead and has no problem
to being transferred.

9. Policy regarding succession


The company prefers "hiring from within". This creates a sense of awareness amongst the
employees that if they work hard they can build a long career at the company. The key aspect of
this policy is identifying individuals with high potential who could fill key positions whenever an
opportunity arises. This ensures a steady flow of talent from within the company. Another
important aspect is sensing if there is any shortage or lack of skill in the company’s HR resources
and fixing it before any opening arises.
