Our earth is an important thing for us, as human lives in it, we must know what is contains and
how to even save it. Therefore, teaching this lesson as the last one was a great opportunity, in
which I had fun to teach and learn from the students about our planet. However, asking the
students to take notes while watching the video, made them alert and conscious, in which they
have to pay full attention in order to think, what is the most important information they have to
take note of. In addition, the video contained many planets name, and how far are they from
the sun, which is connected to the science lesson they have took, this made them recognize
each planet name in English. Nevertheless, it was good to ask them to take notes, it would be
much better to give those questions directly to answer instead of taking random notes. The next
stage was the reading one, where they had to read and try to recognize new terms related to
the lesson, so giving them few minutes to skim and scan before the puzzle gave them the
chance to think and answer quite correctly. This stage was mainly students based, where they
have to direct themselves and try to answer. However, this part was followed with a formative
assessment, which was the kahoot game. Where they have to answer some general questions
related to the reading passage and define the terms, this made me aware of their understanding
of the new terms, and how much they know about our earth, which is very important in order to
build more on their knowledge. Thus, the last stage was the formative assessment for this
lesson, in which I asked them to write about our planet using all the terms they have learned,
this will make me double sure about what level they have reached in the lesson, so I can support
them more next time if it was possible.
