We study numerical methods for the nonlinear partial differential equation that governs the motion of level sets by affine curvature. We show that standard finite difference schemes are nonlinearly unstable. We build convergent finite difference schemes using the theory of viscosity solutions. We demonstrate that our approximate solutions capture the affine invariance and morphological properties of the evolution. Numerical experiments demonstrate the accuracy and stability of the discretization. 2. The area of a rectangle is x2 + 4x -12. What are the dimensions of the rectangle (length and width)? 3. 1. What is the purpose of this article:
An error analysis of symmetric trigonometric integrators applied to highly oscillatory linear second-order differential equations is given. Second-order convergence is shown uniformly in the high frequencies under a finite-energy condition on the exact solution. The main novelty is the concept of the proof itself, which is based on the interpretation of trigonometric integrators as splitting methods for averaged differential equations. This allows one to combine techniques for splitting methods with those for trigonometric integrators. For the bound of the global error, cancellations in the error accumulation have to be studied carefully. The ratio of girls to boys in class is 9 to 7 and there are 80 students in the class. What is the purpose of this article: We construct sets of basis functions of the space of divergence-free finite elements of Raviart–Thomas type in domains of general topology. Two different methods are presented: one using a suitable selection of the curls ofN´ed´elec finite elements, the other based on an efficient algebraic procedure. The first approach looks to be more useful for numerical approximation, as the basis functions have a localized support. 2. The area of a rectangle is x2 + 4x -12. 1. What is the purpose of this article:
The main challenge in the analysis of numerical schemes for the Zakharov system originates from the presence of derivatives in the nonlinearity. In this article, a new trigonometric time-integration scheme for the Zakharov system is constructed and convergence is proved. The time-step restriction is independent of a spatial discretization. Numerical experiments confirm the findings. 2. A store owner wants to mix cashews and almonds. Cashews cost 2 dollars per pound and almonds cost 5 dollars per pound.
