appealed to the students’ interests.
Planning for Learning F D C B A
Comments:
The student was well prepared with all her resources. She discussed her ideas and resources before the lesson to
ensure it was a similar format to what the children were already familiar with.
Managing Learning F D C B A
Comments:
She has formed a great relationship with the children and knows the students all by names and the differentiated
groups that they are in. She was able to follow the same routines and procedures that the students know well, which
allowed the lesson to run smoothly.
Implementing Learning F D C B A
Comments:
The video used for the introduction was age level appropriate and all students were engaged to sing-along to make the
letter sound. All activities were guided with examples. During the tasks she would guide the children, yet without
giving them the answers directly, which allowed the children to think for themselves.
Assessment F D C B A
Comments:
The activities continuously reviewed the letter sound and examples throughout the whole lesson. She regularly
checked on the different groups to assist learners that were unsure and to ensure they are carrying out the tasks
correctly. She provided feedback as students carried out the tasks and interacted well with all the groups. The sticks
used in the introduction was a great indicator to see which students were listening for the letter sound.
Reflection on Practice F D C B A
Comments:
Mariam has established a lovely relationship with all the students and has adjusted well to our classroom routines and
structures.

Action Plan (next steps):

-Try to use more challenging activities and show more differentiation between the different student levels.
-Include more hands-on activities than paper based templates.
-All activities can be provided with simple extensions for students that are able to complete their work quickly.
