Dear Likhon and Sujoy,

Following issues were identified in the models and corrected.

1. Settlement groups were assigned to pier top nodes which was creating unrealistic lateral and longitudinal
forces which was observed while taking out the bearing reactions due to settlement. The settlement groups
should be assigned to the pile bottom nodes, same has been corrected in the models – bearing schedule will
change because of this, the revised schedules will be sent shortly, can be verified from your end and updated
in drawing.
2. Some rigid links of top and bottom bracings were missing inside the stages in the CS models – same was
corrected
3. The top and bottom bracings are supposed to be “truss” elements instead of “beam” elements (this was
discussed during your presence here however was left without updation since we were running out of time).
While checking what will be the effect due to this, I found that the bracing axial forces have increased and
the provided sections are not safe. The bracing sections need to be modified, connections of bracings also
shall be modified accordingly.
4. While taking forces for cross frames, I guess only the truss forces (diagonal members) were taken out earlier,
but the horizontal members which are assigned as beam elements have more axial force than the diagonal
members – hence section needs to be modified accordingly for horizontal and diagonal members in Ramp
B.

The updated models are attached herewith. The forces sheet is also attached herewith for your reference. The
sections (based on our review) are as follows (can be verified from your end). The bracings orientation can be
changed as discussed over phone with Likhon inorder to get higher Izz.

These corrections shall be incorporated in the drawings. Apart from these corrections in bracing sections and
bearing schedule, drawings shall be corrected based on the comments marked in drawings files (will be sent
shortly). Please change the drawings and design documents and send in first half tomorrow since we are intending to
send the drawings to IDC tomorrow.
