How to have an effective job interview

Have you ever applied for a job you were very interested in, received a call for a interview and
immediately became nervous, not knowing what’d you say when that time came? Not knowing how to
properly prepare yourself? As humans, many of us have! We are so worried about selling ourselves to
the interviewers that we tend to become overwhelmed and overthink the interview process altogether.
We tend to walk in and jump from topic to topic providing information about us, our experiences, and
qualifications, instead of allowing the interview to maintain structure and flow. Interviews aren’t as hard
as we make them, and can actually be quite simple. Today we will demonstrate that by way of providing
information that will make you much more comfortable and successful within the interview process.

First things first, be professional with you clothing selection. Always stick to simple black, grey, or navy
colors. Nothing skin tight and make sure everything is in its natural setting and not too over the top,
revealing, or flashy. Be 10-15 mins early so you have to gather your thoughts prior to walking in. Make
sure to keep in mind and remember your reasoning of why you’ve made it to the interview portion of
the process. 9 times out of 10, your interviewer has already selected you based of your qualifications
and feels as though you are a perfect fit for the job. Walk into the interview calm and with confidence,
ready to broadcast your communication skills.

When the interview begins and the interviewer ask you to tell them about yourself, DO NOT start off by
introducing yourself with your name or where your last position was, as they’ve already retained this
information from your resume or application you’ve submitted. Instead, respond to the question asked
by advising what you have to offer and how useful you can be to that particular company. Prioritize your
information you’re providing in a smart and structured manner. Start with your strengths, create your
branding statement, and gradually go from one aspect of your life to another by how the questions are
asked to you. Tell them what they want to hear, using effective words pertaining to the position In
which you’ve applied, FOR EXAMPLE state what your degree or certification specializes in if it pertains to
the job.. Just remember to try not to be too elaborative as you’ll have several other questions to
answer, as those questions are always similar just worded differently.

Provide just enough info to where the interviewer has questions to ask you, showing that they are
engaged in the conversation. You may even familiarize yourself with the interviewer if you don’t already
know them, and ask questions in the nature that you are trying to gain information about the company
and that you’re very much so interested. Maintain a natural smile throughout the interview and stay
professional. Once you’ve answered all questions in this structure manner as well as engaged with the
interviewer and their story with the company, reiterate your readiness to join the team and shake hands
firmly with eye contact. This will display your determination to fill the position as well as your
confidence in yourself and how the interview has went.

Follow and maintain these steps, and you’re guaranteed to succeed!!! Wishing you all the best of luck,
and a breezy interview! Thank you all for listening, until next time….
