Enclosures
Are the entities inside which an electrical machine is housed.
No protection against foreign particles, such m/c’s installed in neat and clean
rooms to which access is guarded.
No access to live parts and protected from foreign solid particles or liquid
access.
No protection from dust and chemicals but from larger bodies and big objects
Drip Proof Type:
Overhead Cowl(Hood) to prevent form oil and water falling from vertical direction.
Splash Proof:
Do not allow water ingress to the ventilating openings upto 100 degrees from
the vertical.
Outer casing is built across the motor and fan is mounted on the shaft to
provide cooling.
To contain the blast or fire inside a motor, such that it does not reach the external
environment.

Hydrogen Cooling

H2 sealed at pressure higher than atm. Pressure to prevent inward seepage of air.
1/14 times density than air, so less windage loss, and noise loss, more efficiency.
Frame is costly.
Advantages:
Water has superseded H2, as viscosity of water is low and can easily circulate
with help of low pressure head.
