I have noticed you need assurance a few times and redirection to know how centre settings work. Last few days there was rain and we were mostly inside today when weather was nice we went outside. You were very excited and had a big run outside in the playground, went up on slide came down from the poll many times. When you had a run around all corners of playground you dove in the sandpit and found shuffle to scoop the sand. I mentioned to you how sand has to stay inside the sand-pit you start slowly dig the sand but soon you realized how fun is to put sand on your head and scoop it again all over the place. I sat down with you and dug the sand to fill the bucket you got fascinated and came close to me and looked carefully, I said, “I am making sand-castle. You had a big smile on your face and said, “I want to make sand-castle.” We together make castle when you smashed the castle down and got excited I said, I want to make two castle, you repeated and showed your concentration and when you made two I said I am going to make another castle. You counted and said, “Teacher, teacher Naema, you made three castles.” You were very happy and made another castle. I asked who is living in your castle, you had a spark in your eyes you said Asyia. Then after a pause added mummy and daddy and my baby sister. I appreciated you how you have built the castles for your family and carried out our conversation about where is the bedroom and lounge. During these few weeks I set up group activities like water-play, Making Playdough, baking, music and Movement, construction site in the Sand- pit and Stepping on Mates group activities. I kept the reciprocal relationship with you to foster your social skills and developing the understanding of space. Abdulrahman enjoying school readiness programme.
Abdulrahman today when you saw wood bark on the table with chalk and markers you came and looked around. Then you saw me writing Abdi name on the wood-bark. You took the red marker then drew on the wood bark. Then you picked the black marker and scribble on the wood bark and looked carefully what Abdi was doing. You gave your black marker to Abdi and took the white chalk he left on the table. With the white drew a line. You liked the scribble on the bark with white chalk and were very happy to see visible white lines. You said, “Look teacher Naema.” I praised you for you rart work and asked you if you want me to write your name at the back. You nodded! What is Happening: You have discovered different ways to be creative and expressive and enjoying all the learning opportunities provided by the centre, playing music instruments and singing. It is also evident that you are observing your environments and learning alongside other children. Your creativity is supporting your social skills which is an important element in building friendships with other children as you gave black marker to Abdi and took the white chalk in exchange. How can we extend this learning? Abdulrahman, your learning pathway for this term is to develop confidence and positive attitude towards learning. We will be providing the opportunities to increase your knowledge and theories about the world around you through imaginative play. We will also support you using vocabulary in context, to your interest and extend on to roleplay. Parent’s contribution:
