1. English Tutor : Mr. Joehari

OBSERVATION RESULTS

Bab 1

1. Locate a course to a group of people who have come for a limited length of time. Evaluate the
course after working through the following steps :
a) Interview the teachers and the director to find out what the stated goals are.
b) Interview a number of students to find out what they think about the course. On the basis of their
comments, work out ‘closed questionnaire on the students’ attitudes toward the course (personal
attitudes) and give it to all the students who are enrolled.
c) Evaluate the materials used in the course, first in the light of what you found out in your
interview with teachers and the director in (a) above, and then in the light of your interview with
atudents (b) above.
d) Draw up a list of suggested changes which you would recommend on the basis of your findings

Answer:

a) Interview the teachers and the director to find out what the stated goals are.
Answer: to make the members familiar with English and Hangout English to practice and test
speaking with others in public places.

b) Interview a number of students to find out what they think about the course. On the basis of their
comments, work out ‘closed questionnaire on the students’ attitudes toward the course (personal
attitudes) and give it to all the students who are enrolled.

c) Evaluate the materials used in the course, first in the light of what you found out in your
interview with teachers and the director in (a) above, and then in the light of your interview with
atudents (b) above.
Answer : The materials used for learning in the Kampung Inggris Solo are books, party salad,
outbound, powder, and songs that seem fun for learning English.
d) Draw up a list of suggested changes which you would recommend on the basis of your findings
Answer : after we conducted an interview with an English tutor in the Kampung Inggris Solo we
suggested that every tutor use syllabus material and learning designs that could be neatly arranged
every day so that the learning targets could be directed and clear.

Bab 2

1. Find a curriculum or syllabus for a course given in an education setting with which you are
familiar. Utilizing that document, evaluation the following.is the distrinction between curriculum
and syllabus presented in this chapter valid? If it does not exist in the program that you are
examining, would you suggest such a distinction? Are the terminal goals clearly defined? Are
there any specifications of the intermediate goals?
Answer : in learning english Mr. Joehari only use one handbook from pare and syllabus that he
made by himself.

a. Is the distinction between curriculum and syllabus presented in this chapter valid ?
The distinction between curriculum and syllabus :

The curriculum is a set of planning arrangements regarding the objectives, content, and
learning materials and ways used as guidelines for organizing learning activities to achieve
certain educational goals.
While the syllabus is a learning plan for a particular group or subject or theme that
includes competency standards, basic competencies, subject matter / learning, learning activities,
competency achievement indicators for assessment, assessment, time allocation and learning
resources.
b. If it does no exist in the program that you are examining, would you suggest such a
distinction ?
The curriculum is as a teacher's guidebook, while the syllabus is a model of application,
methods, or ways that will be used for teaching and learning.
c. Are the terminal goals clearly defined ?
The purpose of the curriculum is intended to be able to direct education towards the
direction and objectives intended in overall learning. The purpose of the syllabus is to plan
learning plans that are in accordance with the existing curriculum so that the learning process
objectives can be achieved.
d. Are there any specifications of the intermediate goals ?
Between the curriculum and syllabus that are interconnected and both have the aim to
make the teaching and learning process run smoothly and in accordance with the competencies to
be achieved.

2. In terms of the content of the syllabus itself :


a. How are the items to be taught described? Are they structural elements, language functions,
semantic categories or no?
Answer : material taught includes vocabulary, grammar conversation, toefl. and it's all
scheduled in the program chosen by the participant.
b. Is there obvious continuity of development?
Answer : according to mr.joehari all material taught aims to improve the participant's
speaking ability
c. Would a textbook writer be clear about what to focus on in preparating new language
materials?
Answer : the author of the book used for learning is very helpful because it is adapted to the
existing context to be able to directly practice and the book is also compiled by experienced
tutors

3. In an educational settings in which you are familiar, what information can you gather on the
limitation of human and other resources in planning an english language curriculum or syllabus?
Implementing syllabus and curriculum that is lacking there is no uniformity in the syllabus and
curriculum itself because the tutors themselves only use experience and also the learning media is
incomplete
4. Select a section of the actual material used in a course and try to answer the questions presented
in section 2.2

1) By whom and where were the materials developed?


Answer : by each tentor in Kampung Inggris Solo
2) Are the materials compatible with the syllabus?
Answer : In accordance with the syllabus
3) Do most of the materials provide alternatives for teachers and learners?
Answer : Yes because in it there is material for reference that allows the teacher to make
students understand and immediately practice the learning material so that students can know
the context of the material being taught.
4) Which language skills do the materials cover?
Answer : the priority is the ability to speak english
5) How authentic are the text types included the materials
Answer : quite helpful in learning
6) How do learners and teachers who have used the materials feel about them?
Answer : The teacher is easy to deliver the material and students are easy to learn English
Bab 3

1. Examine in detail the syllabus for a course or program with which you are familiar. Find out:
a) What elements of language content are specified?
Answer : Language content in the syllabus is like grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation
b) What course outcomes or objectives in terms of specific achevements are stated?
Answer: through the game, students are expected to be able to find out :
-irregular Verbs
-Accompany and carry on
-look inside and be nervous
-Objection who is inside
-Part of the body
c) What processes are suggested for actual classroom activities?
Answer : The learning process and how students can understand what we teach in teaching
and learning activities in a fun and comfortable way

Interview with Mr. Joehari :

1. Apakah Kampung inggris memakai kurikulum atau syllabus

Systemnya seperti pare , mengadopsi kurikullum dari pare, sylabusnya kebanyakan nyatet dan sesuai
pengalaman (membuat sendiri) berbeda dengan yang di sekolah sekolah missal hari ini pertemuan
pertama simple present,

untuk rpp tidak ada

2. itu dalam sehari ngapain aja?

ada 5 program

1) Holiday ang nginep : dari jam 5 subuh sampe jam 8 malem


Holiday yang gak nginep itu dari jam 8 sampe jam 6 maghrib
2) Engliish camp (program 1 tahun) jam 5 sama malem
3) Toefl
4) Grammer jam 10
5) Conversation sehari 1 kali ( senin sampe kamis) sore jam 4

3. Metode sama teknik pendekatan nya gimana?


Kita menggunakan direct method sama approach method
Kita biasanya langsung menanyakan materi

4. Untuk tahu hasil pembelajarannya gimana?

Hasilnya untuk yang 1 tahun itu setiap kamis malem mengadakan ujian grammar

Kan ada 2 yang sudah 1 tahun dan yang belum 1 tahun setiap kamis ujian grammar
Senin :materi yang diajarkan simple present

Selasa : materi yang diajarkan present continuous

Rabu: materi yang diajarkan present perfect

Maka kamisnya diujikan ketiga materi tadi

5. Bagaimana jika hasilnya tidak memenuhi target :

Tidak masalah , disini yang kita unggulkan itu speaking, jadi grammar untuk speaking , meskipun belum
memenuhi target kita ada mengadakan remidi kalo sudah maka akan mendapat sertifikat.

6. Siapa yang menentukan kelulusannya?

Yang menentukan kelulusannya institusi nya dipercayakan sama tutor.

7. Bagaimana media pembelajarannya ?

Metodenya kita ada yang menggunakan buku untuk hafalan

Alat dan media pembelajaran itu untuk speaking kita ngadain iuran buat rujak party

Dibuat outbond pake karet yang diisi vocab

Pake bedak jika ada yang salah

Kadang juga lagu lagu untuk pembelajaran

Setiap subuh hafalan vocab bagi yang baru
