 Cómo inscribir a sus hijos en la escuela
Todo niño de edad escolar (hasta los 18 años) debe
estar inscrito en la escuela. En el estado de Tennessee
la ley indica que no se le puede rechazar la inscripción
escolar a ningún niño. Para inscribir su niño(a):
1) Se necesita prueba de vacunas de su niño. Si
no las tiene, el Departamento de Salud u otra
clínica puede vacunarlo.
2) El contar con el acta de nacimiento de su niño,
las pruebas de sus vacunas y los expedientes
de escuelas anteriores puede facilitar el
proceso para inscribirlo en la escuela. Solicite
los expedientes de las escuelas anteriores para
que la inscripción de su hijo sea más rápida. Si
Ud. no tiene expediente de las escuelas
anteriores, es importante guardar los
expedientes de las vacunas nuevas para la
próxima vez que necesite inscribir a su hijo/a
en la escuela en otro lugar.
3) Para entrar en el jardín de infantes su niño
necesita tener un examen físico médico.
4) El número de seguro social (“social security
number”) no es necesario para inscribirlos en
las escuelas. Las escuelas pueden darle a los
estudiantes sin números de seguro social, un
número de identificación (un “student
identification number”).
5) Para aprender en qué zona escolar está su familia
y a qué escuela debe asistir, pregúntele a sus

How to enroll your children in school
Every school-aged child (up to 18 years old) must be
enrolled in school. Tennessee state law requires that no
child be prevented from enrolling in school for any
reason. To enroll your child in school:
1) You must have proof of vaccinations for your
child. If you do not have proof of vaccinations,
the health department or other clinics may
administer the vaccinations to your child.
2) A birth certificate, vaccination records and
school records can make the enrolling process
easier. Try to obtain old school records for your
child. This will help you enroll into the new
school system quickly. If you do not have
school and vaccination records, it is important
to save your new records for the next time you
must enroll your child in a different school
system.
3) To enter kindergarten your child must have a
physical exam from a doctor.
4) A social security number is not necessary to
enroll your child in school. The school system
can assign children without a social security
number a student identification number
instead.
5) To learn which school zone your family lives in,
ask your neighbors what school their children
attend, or you may call (423) 434-5200 to
speak with the central Johnson City Schools
office. Give them your address and the age of
your child.
