COE 001 Engineering Orientation

Reflective Journal

Activity: Inhinyera Day

Seminar
Group No. 1 Activity No. 1
Date: October 2, 2019

Topic/Company: Inhinyera Day Seminar

Student Name: Dizon, Dietrich J.

Instructor: Engr. Maria Jessica Ebio

Reflective Learning:

I learned a lot from the talk about woman empowerment in Inhenyera, four different engineers talked

about their experiences and life inside the institute. If I'm not mistake those four ladies came from Chemical

Engineering department, 2 came from ECE and one is from Mechanical Engineering department. One of

the speaker who admires me the most is from ECE who became top from her engineering board exam

result. She is from a State University (not stated), where she told about the toxicity of the university and the

unbalanced student's life in the said university. She also said if it weren't of TIP she will not accomplish

being on top in the board. I realized that she is right, TIP has given and still giving me the balanced life.
REACTION(S):

I was inspired and amazed by their struggles in their chosen path. I really feel them, their struggle

through their journey on becoming an engineer. But the best line I won’t forget is that “Smooth sea never

make a skillful sailor” it means that hard work and motivation will make you the best engineer you can be. I

also realized that struggle is part of the process and it is very normal to experience those struggles. As one

of the great physicist said that you have to keep paddling the bicycle if you stop you will fall.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

1. Based on the conducted activity, Identify and describe how you can integrate the theoretical
knowledge into your field.

As a chemical engineering student, I can apply the theoretical knowledge in our field through the theoretical

knowledge that chemical engineering courses like becoming a part-time professor and teach the best I can be in

transporting and sharing my knowledge to the future chemical engineers.

2. Based on the conducted activity, Identify and describe the activities/ tasks. How can you integrate the
acquired learnings/ skills/ knowledge and experience into your field.

A lot of female engineers talked about their struggles while they are in the institution. In the conducted

activity, I will describe the activities and tasks very fulfilling and very inspiring. I can integrate the acquired

learnings/skills/knowledge and experience in our field by doing seminar and some talk to future engineers
to inspire them.
