PART 1
INTRODUCTION
Communication is at the core of every aspect of business because it connects the company
with all its stakeholders, both internal and external: customers, employees, shareholders,
suppliers, auditors, bankers, neighbours, community and the nation. Communicating
through writing is vital in the modern world and is becoming ever more so in the present
information age. Business writing is in various forms such as reports, proposals, procedure
manuals, business plans, letters, memoranda, emails, circulars, notices, newsletters, and
websites. Effective writing is crucial as it provides information, establishes relationships,
persuades readers, eases and facilitates business processes, and most importantly, helps in
decision making. It is these goals that emphasize the need to develop good writing skills.

The course Business Communication - III is intended to help students develop and improve
their communication skills with an emphasis on writing.

COURSE OBJECTIVES (CO)


Business Communication - III’ aims to:

1. strengthen students’ understanding of, and ability to apply written communications


strategies
2. develop and hone students’ skills in objective or non-personal writing
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)
By virtue of the learning gained in this course, the student should be able to:
CLO 1: Make a précis of a speech or a text without losing the essence of the original
material (PLG 4 - written)
CLO 2: Write comprehensive and well-structured documents such as letters, memos,
emails and reports (PLG 4-written)
CLO 3: Deliver project information in a proficient and audible manner through oral
Presentations (PLG 4 - oral)
