Recruitment for the post of Assistant Registrar

Syllabus for Screening (Written) Test-Assistant Registrar

Time:2 hours (Max. M.:100)

General Knowledge & Awareness:

General Knowledge about polity and Indian society.


History, Geography, Economy and Constitution of India. Higher & Technical Education of
India, Sports, Inventions, Famous books etc. Current National and International events etc.

English language & Comprehension/ Reasoning:

English grammar, Sentence correction, Synonyms, Antonyms; Verbal and non-verbal


reasoning, Questions on analogies, similarities, differences, discrimination, observation,
relationship, verbal and figure classification etc.

Numerical Ability and Reasoning:

Numbers and Percentage; Rations and Proportions, Time and Work, Data Interpretation and
Statistics, Mental Ability and Numerical reasoning etc.

Rules and Acts:

CCS conduct rules: Central government service Rules, rules for misconduct, Permissible
and not, permissible activities, Office procedure, Deputation rules; Lien rules, TA/DA rules,
Rules of Advance, Leave rules, LTC rules, Medical Rules, RTI Act: Vigilance authorities,
rules and functions.
NIT Act & Statutes: NIT Acts and statutes NITSER: Act, role and functions of BOG,
Finance Committee, Building and Works Committee, and Senate.
NIT Council: Powers and functions of Director, Registrar, Deans, HOD’s/HOC’s; Code of
conduct for employees; Recruitment Rules for Faculty and Non-Faculty etc.

Ordinances & Manuals of NIT:

Ordinances for UG and PG studies; Admission and Registration procedures, Departmental


and Institute level academic Committees, Teaching and Evaluation: Curriculum Structure for
UG & PG, Grade Point System, CGPA/SGPA. Performance Programme and Degree
requirements; Conduct and Discipline rules of students; Rules for unfair means in
examination, Scholarship, Medals and Prizes for the students.
Accounting and Financing:

Role of drawing and disbursing officer (DDO), Income and service tax rules; Procurement of
goods and services; GFR-2017, GeM Rules and procedures, Tendering and Procuring;
Audit Procedures; Role and functions of CAG; Balance sheet and trial balance; Ledgers and
Postings, Bank, reconciliation statement, receipt & payments, Budgets and Estimation ; GPF
and Pension rules, Knowledge of Tally software and GST rules.

Computing Knowledge:

Computer and its components, Data information concepts and processing.


Windows operating system, Microsoft office, Graphics etc.
