Semester- III

Name: Strength of Materials Code:ET1615 Credit:

Rationale: Strength of Materials focuses on the strength of materials and structural components
subjected to different types of force and thermal loadings, the limiting strength criteria of
structures, and the theory of strength of structures. It deals with the behaviour of objects
withstanding stresses and strains and also emphasizes actual operating conditions.

Catalog Description: This subject covers the introductory concept of stresses and strains, and the
strength of structures such as beams, columns and struts.

Pre-requisite: Knowledge of certain mathematical methods and problem solving aptitude.
