Ahmed is an enthusiastic participant

Child/Tama:Ahmed. Teachers/Kaiako:Jane. Date:30 November/ Whiringa-ā-rangi 2019

Ahmed, I really like the way you participate in

events and activities related to our special Islamic
character. You jumped up from your seat at kai
(food) time to help lead the dua with your friends
Ahmed, Saloomi and Abdulrahman. 4 Nov 19

You always sit and join in the Quran recitation at

mat time. At the moment we are practising for the
NISA Quran competition in January. I wonder
how much Quran you will know by then! 14 Nov

Friday is baking day and you are always an

enthusiastic helper. This Friday we made
vegetable soup and you contributed by
chopping different vegetables including
silverbeet from our centre vegetable
garden. You waited for your turn. It was
hard to wait so long! You had to
concentrate hard. You did a great job. At
the end we shared the soup and it was
delicious. Taslim yadayk, ya Ahmed. 9 Nov

You and Najma are developing a friendship. You
enjoy sitting at her table at kai time. You often laugh
together at something funny. In the photo you are
playing together outside. You ran from the slides
down to the gate. You paused there before you ran
off together back to the slides. I wonder why you are
grasping her wrist rather than holding her hand!? 5

Love those
sunnies,
Ahmed! You
look very suave. You have worn them lots of days both
inside and outside. Sometimes you have them
dangling casually from your pocket. This activity was
about sinking and floating. T Naema asked you to
notice which items were floating on top of the water
and which ones has sunk to the bottom of the bowl.
You joined a big group of tamariki (children) and talked
together excitedly as you explored the different
textures and colours and shapes as well. 6 Nov 19

What learning has occurred?

Your learning pathway for Term 4 is ways of
contributing to groups and group well being as you
play and learn. Ahmed, I have soo soooo many more
photos of you joining in activities in Term 4. I love your
enthusiasm and your willingness to be part of the group and to contribute in every way you
can You are confident to try new activities. We value your contribution, Ahmed! You are
learning about fairness in interactions and turn taking. Sometimes it is hard to wait, but you
have learnt that we are fair and eventually everyone gets a turn.

Next Steps....
Ahmed we will foster your positive learner identity and and offer you more activities that allow
you to contribute in different ways. We will start to build skills for you to enjoy relationships
with others; we will model phrases you can use with friends to share your ideas and to ask
questions.
