Classroom Management

Expectations
1. Be on time to all rehearsals and concerts with all relevant materials needed
2. Be prepared to rehearse with motivation and efficiency
3. Treat all other members of the ensemble with respect
4. Be kind and patient with the directors and other students
5. NO cellphones or other electronic devices unless specified
6. No food or drink except water are allowed in the choir room or performance spaces
7. Leave opinions at the door to eliminate negativity and encourage positive attitudes
8. Enjoy the music!

Sequence of Discipline
Should students not follow the stated rules or be generally disruptive to the teaching process,
they will be awarded a check. Consequences will be dispersed as follows:
 1 Check: verbal warning
 2 Checks: verbal warning #2 and a short meeting after class
 3 Checks: detention after school with the teacher in the choir room
 4 Checks: written up and detention after school with the teacher in the choir room
 5 Checks: written up and sent to the office
It is up to the discretion of the teacher to distribute checks as they see fit. There will be NO
tolerance for fighting, both verbally and physically. Any fight witnessed by the teacher will
result in an automatic trip to the office for all involved parties.

This system is reset every day, because everybody has a bad day every once and a while.
Therefore, each day, the students get a clean slate and a fresh start.
