SKOTT MARSI

CONTEMPORARY FINE ARTIST

STREET ART MURALIST
WHO IS
SKOTT MARSI

Skott Marsi dubs “Controlled Chaos” to describe his practice of abstracted

realism. His own rendering of the iconic Gumby, an American clay humanoid
character created by Art Clokey, marks Skott Marsi’s first graffiti “tag”. Drawing
inspiration from Picasso, Jackson Pollock, and Banksy, Marsi fuses spray cans
and paint to create bold, abstract colored images to convey current day pop
culture. His works of art on canvases and extensive murals are instrumental
in establishing street art as a recognized form of fine arts. Marsi’s style as a
contemporary street artist and muralist is unique in radiating enthusiasm and
altruism.

Spring 2016, Grant Greenspan hired Marsi to create a mastermind project in the Madison
Square Park-are office buildings, transforming the elevator shafts into works of art. As part of
the renovations to several newly acquired and previously neglected buildings in the Flatiron,
the principal of the Kaufman Organization, hired the artist to create a body of work historic in
the art community. The project consisted of three, 12 story buildings, where Marsi painted the
elevator shafts ways, with 70 unique paintings seen behind a glass elevator cab.
This project is truly one of a kind, catching attention in the contemporary art community.
