areas, which equip the LBSIM graduates to sharpen their multiple functional skills. The participant will also choose one
elective each in fifth and sixth trimester from General Management area. Besides, each student undertakes a Final Research

topic in the student's "area" of interest. The course is guided by a faculty guide/mentor and provides an opportunity to
individual student to pursue research in the specific area(s) of interest in depth. The study is comprehensive and is an
integration of several fields of study to search solution(s) to a single problem. The five months period gives a valuable
experience in the research process like problem identification, problem definition, systematic literature review, collection of
relevant data, data analysis and drawing conclusions. FRP gives an opportunity to students to take initiative, use cognitive
and analytical skills to complete an individual project well beyond the regular curriculum. FRP process ends in the form of a
report submission, power point presentation before external panel and a viva-voce.

LBSIM follows a grading system to evaluate the performance of PGDM students.
The grading reflects a student's proficiency in the course and his/her relative
position in the class. While relative position of the student is clearly indicated by his/
her grades, the process of awarding grades is not necessarily based upon fitting
performance of the class to some statistical distribution. The associated faculty of
the course formulates appropriate procedure to award grades that are reflective of
the student's performance vis-à-vis instructor's expectation. The grades and their
description, along with equivalent numerical points are mentioned here:

Grade Numerical Value of Description

Grades into Points
A+ 10 Outstanding
A 9 Excellent
B+ 8 Very Good
B 7 Good
C+ 6 Average
C 5 Below Average
D 4 Marginal
F 0 Fail

Each Student must attain a minimum CGPA of 5.00 at the end of first year and should not have their count of 'I' (Incomplete) and 'F' (Fail)
grades more than 3. Those who fail to meet the twin criteria of CGPA and the count of 'I/F' grades, shall not be promoted to the
second year and will need to improve their grades by repeating certain 1st year courses, where they have 'F' or 'D' grades. Those who
are promoted to the second year less than or equal to 3 backlogs ('I' or 'F' grade) must clear those courses by appearing for End-Term
exams, as and when scheduled for the next batch. No separate / extra classes would be arranged for such students.
To qualify for the award of PGDM, students must attain a minimum CGPA of 5.00 at the end of the programme and should not have any 'I'

ALUMNI
LBSIM has vibrant alumni association foundation that organizes alumni meet every year. Institute has a strong bonding and
networking with more than 4000 Alumni who are excelling in their professional career in India and abroad.

ALUMNI SPEAK
Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management is a lot more than just a centre for academic
excellence. I would describe it as an institution for life-training. Apart from imparting
world-class management education, what LBSIM bestowed upon me were priceless life-
lessons on discipline, values, team-work and commitment. It also prepared me for the rigor
of deadlines, competition and evaluation that await all management students as they step
into the industry. My sincere and heartfelt congratulations to this fine institution that has
left an enduring impression on me.
Vineet Bajpai (Batch: 1995-1997)
Talentrack- Founder & CEO

It's been quite a while but sometimes when I look back at my professional journey from
the by lanes of a small sleepy town in West Bengal there have been some places and
period which has played a defining role and my days in LBSIM during 2000 to 2002 will be
one of those. The learning that we inculcated and the bonding which we still cherish with
our batch mates is a testimony of the fact that how LBSIM played a crucial role in both
our professional and life journey. Good luck to the institute and may they continue to
shape the careers of budding students in a manner that has defined its alumnus.
Anirban Nandy (Batch: 2000-2002)
Deutsche Bank- Director, Asia Pacific Head

LBSIM was indeed the platform which provided me with the opportunity to learn by
leading two important responsibilities. It started with the work on summer trainings for
the entire batch at the end of the 1st year and subsequently the final placements at the
end of the 2nd year. Another important focus area which I got at LBSIM, with the due
support of the batch mates as well was the responsibility to be part of the Students
Executive Body, Management Grid, as the General Secretary. Both these roles were
helpful in building corporate leadership traits along with interpersonal skills going
forward in my career.
Kabiir Khattar (Batch: 1995-1997)
Outlook Media - Sr. General Manager

I feel special to be one amongst the first batch of LBSIM. What distinguishes our institute
from others is the education with values. There is no doubt that there is no substitute for
hard work in Corporate world, but what makes us all different from others is the values that
we carry and not compromise under severest of pressures. The institute imbibed in me the
importance of empathy and compassion for people working under you and also those who
are less privileged in society. After all success without values is only half success.
I wish you all a great success!!
Amit Kapoor (Batch: 1995-1997)
Securities and Exchange Board Of India- General Manager

“LBSIM laid an undeniably solid foundation to my professional life and growth. Little did I
know that the bustling, two years on campus were but a trailer of the unremitting hustle
ahead. The staunch emphasis is on excellence, diligence, strong discipline and the good
old work ethics have held me in good stead and I invariably seek the same in people I work
with. My deepest gratitude to the institution for the catalyst it’s been.”
