Research paper outline
- What does sustainable mean?
- Find alternatives for sustainability
- Turn off the water, reuse clothes, travel sustainably, recycle, limit your trash
production
- Cowspiracy documentary
- Renewable resources
- How to save energy with those resources
- Ways to be sustainable
- Why is this industry a problem?
- Conclusion: Ways YOU can be sustainable
- It’s better for your body to not eat meat. It’s hard to digest.

- Be mindful about your food choices
- Poor people can’t afford to buy vegan/vegetarian meals. They buy whatever they
can. They don’t think too much about their eating habits.
- The beef and dairy industry emits more greenhouse gases than all transportation
combined (planes, cars, buses, trains, boats) (cowspiracy)

a. Introduction
i. What am I arguing?
ii. Brief summary of my argument
iii. What is sustainability
iv. Thesis

b. Meat and dairy industry

i. Raising cows and processing the beef and dairy
ii. Water waste, food waste, energy waste.
1. Grab information from my proposal and add on to it
iii. Pro: Raising cattle provides many jobs for people

c. Pros and cons of adjusting

i. This is how the industry can adjust to be more sustainable:
ii. As an individual, this is how you can be more efficient
1. It’s better for your body to not eat meat. It’s hard to digest.
a. We aren’t supposed to consume dairy
2. Try vegan. Try alternate foods
3. Vegetarian and vegan food is expensive
a. Poor people rely on fast food, cheap food
d. Conclusion
i. Sustainability: You can help by doing this…
ii. Renewable resources and energy
1. Turn the water off, alternative energy sources

Highlighted words: add more onto that

- Try to focus the paper back to beef/dairy/sustainable eating rather than energy-efficiency
- Ways the farms can be more efficient
- Looking at other nations and see how their farming system works
- Local farms: Thinking about how much resources they use
- Using energy-efficient sources into the industry
- Making a more efficient industry
- Whats a dead zone? Does it kill life? Why is it a bad thing? How does it affect the
planet/environment? What causes dead zones?

In the industry, almost all parts of a cow are being recycled and reused to make other

products, and that is a very sustainable and effective process. In terms of the healthy lives of

cows and the quality of their beef, most local farms that own livestock are grass-fed and

cage-free. That is comforting to know that there are local farms who treat the cows with a

purpose other than as machines who produce beef and milk their entire lives.
