Reflection Paper:

Difference Between Modern Art and The Renaissance Art

And A Glimpse of Mona Lisa's History

To start this reflection, I would like to acknowledge the difference of the Modern art
and the Renaissance art. Renaissance art, as we all know, has a great influence to our modern
art specially if we're talking about details, accuracy, and precision. Basic ideas was provided
by the Renaissance art and as the time goes by modern art developed those ideas through
portraying different content or subject in their artwork. Art eventually changes because time
also changes and so as the world. As what Janoskova stated, the best artist during
Renaissance period form art as they looked hard at the world and tried to capture what they
see or what they would like to see while the artists today contemplate on what makes us, the
world, and what are the infinite ways to express how we experience beauty or pain or
frustration or exaltation.

Renaissance art seems to focus more on the human as an individual, while modern
art takes a broader picture of what makes an individual human. Modern art make sure that
they point out most of how they want to show their artwork to the world. While in Renaissance
art, they portray the common perspective of their subject as what they see but what made the
Renaissance art breathtaking was the piece of history behind of each artwork and how creative
the artist during that time knowing that art was still blooming and finding an art teacher was
difficult. The shift of style, subject, and content of an art differs through time and with the artists'
wondering mind.

One of the most prestigious painting of Renaissance period was Mona Lisa. According
to the handouts given, it was just an ordinary portrait of a woman and due to some unfortunate
events, the French government took possession of the artwork. It then started the infamous
travel of Mona Lisa that made it very valuable these days. Just how I described Renaissance
art, The Mona Lisa which was made to be just an ordinary portrait became to be the most
valuable piece of artwork today because of the popularity it made during the time it was lost.
That created history and impacted the ways that could not have been foreseen by the artist,
Leonardo da Vinci, when he completed the painting when he was still living. Moreover, the
painting created unanswered controversy as there are many questionable issues that still
remain unknown. The painting is an elaborate example on how the transition of one's artwork
can influence one's point of view.

At some point, the painting symbolizes how fascinating a woman. Through the can be
but this might not be what da Vinci intended at the time, the painting has now been published
in different multitude of texts throughout the world and ,in the worst state, the intended
message has lost.

It is very overwhelming that the number of people doing art has also increased during
how many years had passed. Recognition and acknowledgment must be given in honor to
those brilliant minds of the Renaissance artist who by then affect the perspective of our
modern artist today and gave theme inspiration to what they were doing and specially to those
young artist who are lacking of motivations and encouragement.
