1) Project Description (Brief Introduction)

Cryptography is basically a technique or a method that is used to protect information by encryption of

code so that only the sender and receiver can read and process it. The word “crypt” means
“hidden/vault” and the other word “graphy” is used for “writing”. In computer science, the word
cryptography is used to secure information and provide a safe way to communicate around the world by
using mathematical concepts based on several algorithms that makes it difficult for the intruders to
decipher.

2) Problem Statement

Nowadays, there are many issues regarding a safe and reliable piece of communication. Everyone
requires a secure medium in order to communicate on the internet. Most of the time, the data that is
sent from a sender is hacked and leaked before reaching to its destination. So basically, if you send any
sensitive file or folder, it is quite risky on the internet. So think before sending any!

On the other hand, there are many issues regarding the currencies that are being used all over the
world. There are some curriences that have a low value where as there are some of them that have a
great value. This thing makes a huge difference between the economic power between nations. So
what if the whole world starts implementing the digital currency concept and use it on a global level?
You probably wouldn’t have any issues regarding your check-in into your bank accounts or if you’re
trying to deposit or withdraw any money. Travelling onto some other country could be much easier
since you don’t need to convert your currency if you’re willing to visit other countries. Having a physical
currency in hand is quite risky since their are many robberies and snatching all over the world. Will be
discussing the type of cryptography that is, “Cryptocurrency” and the Block Chain process.

3) Methodology

The methodologies used for sending a safe and secure data are as follows:

1) Plaintext (something that is readable or written in simple words instead of a code)

2) Encryption (to hide/convert any sensitive data into a code that could be harder to decipher)

3) Ciphertext (a piece of data that is non-readable, encrypted data)

4) Decryption (a piece of data in a readable format, basically non-encrypted form of data)

4) Motivation

First of all, as you may know that the term technology has changed a lot in these past 200 years. You
may also see that the world is evolving in such a great speed when it comes in technology. Today,
computing technology has been playing a vital role in our daily lives. All the major and huge problems
can be solved within seconds. Everyday, there are new technologies generated by amazing human
minds. Indeed, there is no ending in intellectual thinking, research, reading and to test the human
boundaries when it comes in building a new technology. Technology could consist of things like
techniques, skills, taking a specific problem and having an insight on things of how could it be more
reliable and better.

The topic “cryptography” was basically chosen because it is actually the future of communication,
mainly digital currency also called as Block Chain that we will be elaborating further. Besides that, the
other topics seems to be old school. We should focus on new things and bring forward new ideas and
technologies to enhance this generation. It could be somehow better because this technology will make
it easier for daily life problems for everyone around the globe. Making the communication more safe,
secure and reliable for everyday transactions. Some of the features are as follows:

- Confidentiality: the information cannot be understood by anyone for whom it was unintended.
- Integrity: the information cannot be altered in storage or transit between sender and intended
receiver without the alteration being detected.
- Non-repudiation: the creator/sender of the information cannot deny at a later stage his or her
intentions in the creation or transmission of the information
- Authentication: the sender and receiver can confirm each other's identity and the
origin/destination of the information

5) Why Cryptography?

Cryptography actually makes it difficult for the hackers to exploit weak implementations when using the
default keys as an example. It consists of powerful algorithms that are built using mathematics which
makes it harder for the attackers to access messages and data. Under this process, you can safely
communication or make any transactions online without any third party involved.
