HOMEBOUND
We are grateful to those who give of
their time and care to bring Holy
Communion to our parishioners who cannot make it to
church due to sickness or infirmity. If you know of
anyone who would like to receive communion in their
home or while hospitalized at West Lincoln Hospital,
please contact the parish office.
PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY
The Prayer Shawl Ministry
continues to create handcrafted
shawls for parishioners, their
families and friends who are
coping with illness, loneliness,
pain or trouble. They are available to anyone who
needs one. Please call the office to request a shawl or
lap blanket or if you would like to join this ministry.

THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE Traditionally the
month of November is a time when we remember in
prayer all who have died. You are invited to write in
the names of the deceased loved ones and friends
you wish to have remembered in prayer by the
community during November. Please return
Remembrance Envelopes in the collection basket or
bring them to the parish office.
ARE YOU REGISTERED IN OUR PARISH?
If you are new to the parish or have been attending
Mass here, ensure that you are registered by completing
the tear off section at the front of this bulletin. Please
do not take for granted that you are registered in the
parish, just because you attend Mass here. In the future,
should you be in need of a pastoral letter (godparent,
school, sponsor for confirmation, teacher referral, etc.),
it would be difficult to issue one if you are not formally
registered with the parish.
SANCTUARY LAMP
We have openings for the Sanctuary Lamp in 2020. If
you would like to book a particular week in memory of
your loved one, please contact the office sooner rather
than later as the year is filling up. Cost is $35 per week.

Jesus calls us not to be
obsessed with the “stones”
that will one day collapse
and become dust but to seek
instead the lasting things of
the soul, the things of
God. Compassion and mercy,
justice and forgiveness are
the lasting treasures of the
Kingdom of God, a Kingdom that is created in our own
homes and classrooms and churches.
In the most difficult and paralyzing moments we face,
Jesus promises us that when we act out of selfless love
to seek first the good of another, we will find the words
and actions that heal and lift up. God remains present
to us in the goodness within ourselves and in the caring
compassion offered by others.
Despite the wars we fight, the earthquakes that shake
our sureties, the disasters that topple our secure, self-
centered worlds, we can always rebuild our lives on the
stronger and timeless things of God: compassion,
reconciliation, friendship, generosity. .
ANNUAL OFFENSE DECLARATIONS
Our Responsible Faith Ministry Committee would like
to remind all high-risk volunteer ministers that it is time
for the signing of annual Offence Declarations. If you
have completed a Police Check for participation in any
ministry, please ensure you have signed an OD form to
keep this current! This is a mandatory requirement
for all volunteers who encounter our vulnerable
sector in their work, including volunteer drivers,
ministers to the Homebound, Children's Liturgy and
youth group volunteers. OD forms can be found on the
small table in the front vestibule of the church, and
should be signed and submitted to the parish office or in
the weekly collection basket no later than December 1.
Committee Members will also be in attendance at our
Annual Christmas Bazaar on November 23 to collect
signatures and answer questions. Thank you for your
continued commitment to ministry at St. Helen's Parish!

WORLD DAY OF THE POOR
November 17, 2019 marks the third annual World Day
of the Poor. In 2017, Pope Francis suggested the
Catholic Church set aside one day each year when
communities can “reflect on how poverty is at the
very heart of the Gospel.” He designated this day as
the World Day of the Poor, and it will be celebrated on
the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time each year.
In this year’s World Day of the Poor message, Pope
Francis reflects on Psalm 9:19, “The hope of the poor
will not perish forever.” He considers the suffering of
millions of people who experience poverty, noting that
they maintain hope in the Lord in a very real way
because he assures them of his faithfulness. Pope
Francis challenges us to be authentic witnesses of
Christian hope and to accompany the poor through a
personal and constant commitment over time.
