619-10 Low Pressure Gauge Hammer and Rubber Mallet Pin Punch, 1/4" dia.
Allen Wrench, 1/8" Vise Grip, 7R 2 Vise-Grip C-Clamps, 11R
LOCTITE compound blue #242 or equivalent
IMPORTANT: If Ice Cleats are required, install only the 625-21 ice cleat
contained in 625-20 or 825-20 ice cleat kit on the OUTSIDE
of these track assemblies to prevent damage to the vehicle
body.
Instructions
1. Join 2 track segments together, lining up the 1/4"
holes. Hammer a track pin through the holes, plac-
ing the lock bushing as shown in the center space
provided. When installing the track pins which hold
the track segments together, alternate the direction in
which the pins are pushed through the track segment
holes. See Fig. 1.
Note: Center the track pin so that it does not stick out
on either side of the track.
IMPORTANT
Photo 2.
CAUTION: Do NOT over inflate. Lower body damage could result from track segments rubbing against the poly-
ethylene body material. Pay special attention to the tracks during the initial "run-in" period of use. If
the tracks become slack, start hitting the lower body, or the tires begin to slip inside the tracks DO
NOT INCREASE TIRE PRESSURE ABOVE WHAT IS SHOWN IN THE CHART. Remove the
half segment from each track, or remove a full segment and add the half segment.
Over inflation of the tires will cause excessive and premature wear of the tires and ARGO track system, and may
cause axle and/or axle bearing damage.
Under inflation of the tires may allow them to slip in the track or may cause the tire to pop off the wheel rim.
Under certain conditions, the tires may climb out of the track system during a turn or side hill operation. Check that
all tires are correctly inflated, and avoid sharp high-speed turns when the Argo is heavily loaded.
18. Loosen the set screw in the lock bushing of the track pin. Store set screw in a safe place.
19. Using a 1/4" pin punch and hammer, start the removal of the track pin from the vehicle side of the track. Once
started, pull the pin out of the segment with Vise Grip.
20. Pull the track off the top of the tires and drive the vehicle out of the tracks.
Note: Axle extensions are recommended for use only with Argo Super tracks and should be removed for tire-
only use.
Operating Precautions
This track system is not recommended for use on pavement, gravel, rocks or any other abrasive surface. Abrasion
will cause premature wear of the track segment.
If an Argo is taken outdoors into freezing temperatures after the track system has been installed indoors at normal
room temperature, the tires will lose air pressure. After the tires have cooled down to the outdoor temperature where
the vehicle is to be operated, the tire pressure should be rechecked and adjusted as required.
Do not allow the track to freeze up or become clogged with snow. Damage to the Argo track system can occur.
EXTREME CAUTION must be observed when using the Argo track system on icy surfaces. Loss of steering and
braking effectiveness will occur.
CAUTION: Under certain winter conditions, such as a rapid drop in temperature after a mild period, slush can
build up on track segments to the point that the ARGO may be unable to move. Stop periodically
to clean snow and ice from the axles and track components to prevent buildup.
IMPORTANT
Please note the below tire pressures are RATIOS and not necessarily the final pressures used. Tire
pressure may need to be adjusted higher or lower to achieve correct track deflection. E.g. tire pres-
sures for an 8x8 might end up at (4, 6, 6, 5 ) or ( 3, 5, 5, 4) etc. However, DO NOT exceed the maxi-
mum tire pressure of 7psi on any given tire as indicated on the sidewall of each tire.
