Three different topics that are essential to managing and running a business are good
leadership skills, the embracing and understanding of different cultures, and the implementation
of ethics. These matters work hand in hand and are fundamental managerial techniques that help
provide a strong foundation for your business to develop and evolve upon.

professional and organized environment. In a Forbes article, “Leadership: It’s Not About You”,
by Amy Modglin, she discusses her own personal experience and what steps she took to grow as
that being a leader isn’t about focusing on the status of your position, but rather fully supporting
your team and workers. Most often, some leaders are self-absorbed, but this strategy is proven
manner, try to get to know your workers and recognize the hard work that they’re contributing to
your business. After all, the success of your workers guarantees the overall success of your
business.
Culture is important in a business setting because it provides a sense of unity and brings
employees and leaders closer to work together more productively. In a Harvard Business Review
spotlight series, “The Leader’s Guide to Corporate Culture”, by Boris Groysberg, Jeremiah Lee,
Nester 2
Jesse Price, and J. Yo-Jud Cheng, they review how culture should actually be encouraged in
business and how to properly manage it. This resource further expanded my understanding of
culture by listing and explaining the eight different features that culture is comprised of – caring,
purpose, learning, enjoyment, results, authority, safety, and order. These styles help determine
what actions and regulations are acceptable and what aren’t in a work setting. The implication of
culture allows a business to be extremely flexible to changes while also accommodating the
honorably as well as trying to prevent discrimination in the work place. In a Huffington Post
article, “The Case for Ethics in Innovation”, by Seema Sehgal Kalra, he explains why
resource broadened my understanding of ethics because it addressed that doing what is right and
proper not only increases the moral compasses of your workers, but is also beneficial to the
business. Implementing ethics into worker’s training gives them a stronger work ethic and
teaches them how to properly and honestly deal with situations or dilemmas that could arise.
Leadership, culture, and ethics are crucial elements to managing and running a successful
business. These three topics work together and are fundamental managerial techniques that help
