6 I send texts on a daily basis expressing my thoughts and have

it is as important in a job as it would be more verbal and face to

Ability to collaborate effectively 10 I am quite confident that I am able to collaborate effectively
within a team within a team as I have done a lot of team work for previous
assignments and still am doing teamwork in project so I have lots
of previous experiences and am currently still developing my
skills.
Negotiation
Ability to reach a mutually satisfactory 8 I have had previous experiences where I have compromised to
outcome through compromise reach a mutually satisfactory outcome many times. For example, I
didn't have the skill set needed to complete a task yet the team
manager assigned me the task. so I asked the manager to assign
someone to work alongside me who knew how to do the task to
guide and assist me to do the task.

Ability to supervise or direct the work 15 I have no previous experience in supervising or directing the work
of others of others. However I would like the chance to try to develop my
skill. I feel as though it is dependent on job importance as you
may not have a managing or supervising job role.
Ability to evaluate competing 20 I have some experience with being able to evaluate competing
priorities to plan ahead priorities to plan ahead as I have to do this for my assignments
and usually choose to do the more simple and straightforward
assignments after the complicated ones or the assignments that are
due sooner. this is important in a job as you must get all the
assigned tasks done in the given time frame.

Calculations
Ability to use a calculator or PC to 3 I am very experienced in using a calculator/PC to use calculations
make calculations as i have done a GCSE exam which consisted of me using a
calculator to do calculations. however, I do not think it is that
important in a job but that depends on your job role.
Interpretation
Ability to interpret descriptive 9 I have some previous experience with interpreting descriptive
statistics, e.g. ratios percentages, statistics as i have done some in college. This skill is dependant
means, standard deviations on job role for it to have job importance.
Ability to interpret inferential 12 I have done this previously in school as it was part of my work. I

I have accidentally deleted them. The job importance is very
important because you need to be able to create,store and retrieve
file or you wouldn't get any work done.

Ability to use a word processing (WP) 5 I have developed this skill over a period of time with the help of
package to produce a variety of school and college. This skill would have a lot of job importance
formats of documents if your job role is something related to it, for example, writing
reports. You wouldn't need this skill if you did labour work.
Spreadsheets (e.g., MS Excel)
Ability to use a spreadsheet to record 10 I have created spreadsheets in college to record and manipulate

Internet Explorer, Netscape, AOL I use internet on a daily basis.

Ability to understand and summarise 12 I am still developing this skill as I have not yet fully
information mastered it. I am developing this skill as i have to write
reports on some assignments so i am getting better. This
skill would be important in a job as you may have to
write reports on certain products or businesses.

Ability to initiate, take decisions and act 10 In my previous experiences I have taken my own
resourcefully initiative and used my own ideas to reach my end goal.
This wouldn't be very important as you would have
training to assist you to complete your tasks. However,
some tasks require you to use your own initiative and
make ur own decisions to reach the end goal.

Self awareness – the ability to identify 12 I am not very good at identifying all my strengths and
and reflect on own strengths and weaknesses but can identify some, I haven't tested how

learning in a variety of contexts can make mistakes as I need to learn more in debt and
need examples so I understand more. This skill would be
important in a workplace as you would go through
training to actually be able to do the job you are aiming
to get. Also some employers may give you training to do
another job rather than employ other people as it saves
them money.
Reasoning skills – ability to defend 6 I have previously used logic and evidence to defend my
argument using logical and systematic argument which is okay but don't always know the facts
thinking based on sound evidence so it can be challenging. I don't think it is very important
in a business environment as there wouldn't be much
conflict but could be so it would be average.

Reflection – ability to reflect on and 15 I have developed this skill in the past from college and
critique own performance school as i have received constructive feedback and
worked on the skills I needed to develop on. This would
be beneficial in the workplace because you would
receive feedback from your managers.

Ability to manage and prioritise time to 10 I have developed this skill by handing my assignments

integrate them with other sources of need to take notes for assignments so I am more aware
information of what to do and how to do it. This would be important
in a workplace as you would need to understand and
remember what is being said as you won't get a second
chance.

appropriate system, e.g., Harvard or reference all of my findings at the bottom of my
Vancouver assignments in a bibliography.

I have the ability to express myself in writing as I have written assignments for my course which consisted of me writing reports. Last year I was
made to make a poster which i produced to a good standard for an assignment. I am currently writing my personal statement and send emails
to my classmates and tutors if I need assistance on assignments.

Verbal:
Informal – ability to network easily with other people
I have the ability to communicate verbally as I had to make new friends in my classes at the start of college and school which made me more
confident and helped me to talk to new people without feeling shy. I have also organised events to do with close friends many times and usually
have turned out to be a success and I had lots of fun.

I have the ability to express myself clearly and concisely to a group as I have previously done a presentation which went with my course that
was to do a mini dragons den in which we did group work and presented our ideas to potential investors. I have also done an interview for a
potential work placement which I personally think that helped me to develop this skill further as it was my first interview.

Non-verbal:
Listening – ability to attend actively to others’ views and ideas and understand their point of view
I have the ability to listen as I listen to my tutors as they explain what I need to do for each assignments and have taken instructions as to how
to box and other fighting skills.

Body Language – ability to match body language appropriately to what is being said verbally
I still need to develop the skill of body language as I seem bothered and tired a lot and I am not comfortable making too much eye contact.

WORKING WITH OTHERS


Working with others is a skill highly valued by employers. Suitable evidence for this skill need not be limited to work experience. You should
think of all aspects of your work, studies and social life.

I have some experience in this skill through lots of group work as there was a unit that consisted of group work. I am still developing this skill as
I do project which is all group work.

I have developed the skill of negotiation as I negotiate when i am making a purchase of of close friends or family so i know how to negotiate
however choose not to a lot of the time as i always get a reasonable price.

I have not yet developed this skill as I sometimes say offensive things which results in people being unhappy. So I still need to develop this
skill.

Leadership - Ability to encourage and motivate others


I have previously motivated team members and made them feel more comfortable however i have not had the experience of being a team
leader so i have not got this ability and need to develop this skill further.

I received a 5 in GCSE mathematics, one of the papers was a calculator based paper on which I was taught different methods of using a
calculator which came in handy during the examination and I am able to use them in different circumstances if needed.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

I have the ability to create, store and retrieve files as i do this in college for assignments all the time.

Word Processing - Ability to use a word processing package to produce a variety of formats of documents
I have the ability to use a word processing package to produce a variety of formats of documents as i have created posters leaflets and reports
and done assignments and have also created a CV.

Spreadsheets - Ability to use a spreadsheet to record and manipulate different sets of data
I have the ability to use a spreadsheet to record and manipulate different sets of data as I can input information, produce graphs and use
formulas. I have developed this skill through ICT in school and doing some financial work for assignments.

I have the ability to create a database as i have done this many times in the past however have not got the ability to retrieve information from a
database.
Presentations - Ability to create and display a PowerPoint presentation
I have produced presentations previously as I have had to do them for assignments. I have also displayed a powerpoint as me and my team
had to for a dragons den event.

Information and Communication - Ability to send and receive email


I have the ability to send and receive emails as I send and receive emails on a daily basis for college and personal too.

I have the ability to send and receive attachments as emails as i have sent them to classmates and have sent my CV out to employers.

I am able to download files from the internet and transfer them to WP as i have done this previously as I needed information for my assignment
which i could not access unless I downloaded it.

I have the ability to use a search engine as I use google when I am doing research for assignments and online shopping.

I have the ability to generate new ideas or conceive existing ideas in a new way as I always take half an hour a day to do assignments so I keep
to it and don't lose attention and waste my time.

I have developed this skill as I have to analyse my assignments to ensure i have done it to a good standard, completed all the criterias, added
the heading, used correct grammar and correct spelling before handing it in.

I use my own initiative to ensure that I complete work in college and that I understand what I am doing or ask questions if I do not understand
anything.

Self Management

Self-awareness – ability to identify and reflect on own strengths and weaknesses in relation to:
I have created a skills audit and a skills analysis document which identifies my strengths and weaknesses for my personal development for
example the documents assist me in knowing what skills I have and what skills need developing. Also i have made a SMART targets document
which would assist me in my educational development as i would need to follow them to be better in class and with assignments. My 5 year
plan would assist me in my career development as I have milestones on the plan which are small targets i need to reach.

Effective learning – ability to learn from a range of situations and apply learning in a variety of contexts
I have the ability to learn from a range of situations and apply learning in a variety of contexts as I learnt to keep a timetable in which I needed
for my workout and food intake and have applied that schedule to complete my assignments.

Reasoning skills – ability to defend argument using logical and systematic thinking based on sound evidence
I have not yet had the opportunity to have an argument about anything yet however I use logical thinking to avoid the situation in the first place,

Reflection – ability to reflect on and critique own performance


I reflect on my performance by reading the record sheet that I receive back from my assignment and take into account what i could do better
and apply it to my next assignment.
Study Skills

I have the ability to manage and prioritise time to meet deadline as i have handed in all my assignments in on time to far.

I have a bibliography on each assignment which has all the references to anything I may have used.

I have been to the LRC facilities that the college provides for some books to assist me on some assignments

I have notes of classes which I have organised into folders and have previously used them and added them on to other assignments where
relevant.

I reference all materials in a new document or at the bottom of my documents with the heading “bibliography”
