AWARENESS AND ACCEPTABILITY OF THE OBJECTIVES OF
MATHEMATICS PROGRAM IN CONGRUENCE TO UNIVERSITY VISION
AND MISSION AND COLLEGE GOALS” Contribution Number: ____________

This study aimed to determine the stakeholders’ awareness and acceptability of

the objectives of Mathematics program in congruence to university vision and mission

and college goals. Purposive sampling was employed in this study. This study included

145 respondents, composed of 40 BS Mathematics students, 10 faculty of the

Mathematics Department, 40 Alumni of BS Mathematics program and 55 other

stakeholders. The study primarily followed a descriptive research design which made

use of questionnaire in gathering data from the said respondents. Results were tallied,

tabulated and analyzed using frequency counts and mean.

Results show that majority of the respondents are aware of the VMGO. The

acceptability and sustainability are strongly agreed by the participants. Moreover, there

is a congruency of the Objectives of Mathematics Program to the Mathematics

Department Objectives, CAS Goals and MMSU Vision and Mission.

Thus, the extent of dissemination of the VMGO in bulletin boards, billboards,

printed materials and social networks is a very good practice to strengthen further their

dissemination. This is also achieved by the close interaction and communication

between the university and other stakeholders.

The researchers are thankful to awesome people who have been there to

challenge, inspire and motivate them, to pursue and rise up in the face of the tests they

encountered in their academic years. Specifically, they would like to make mention of

the following:

The Omnipotent God, for His grace, mercy, unceasing provisions and unfailing

love and guidance;

Prof. Liliwa A. Olalo, their thesis adviser for her unending love, patience, time

and understanding, without her guidance this study would not have been possible;

Prof. Ciriaco T. Ragual and Prof. Ruby Celia D. Cagaoan, the members of

their advisory committee; for honestly giving their comments and suggestions for the

improvement of this study;

Prof. Ruween Nicky C. Guzman, their statistician, for his patience in

analyzing the data;

Dr. Marlina L. Lino, their English critic, for patiently editing their manuscript;

The faculty of the Department of Mathematics, for their unending support that

gives strength to the researchers to finish this study;

The respondents of this study, for lending their most precious time in

answering the questionnaire;

Their loving and supportive parents, from whom they gather strength, for their

endless love, unfailing support and continuous encouragement throughout the time of

their study; and

The BS Mathematics students, specially their friends, Jeyzhie Kinno Samalio,

Sherryl Joy Lacuesta, Melanie Valenzuela and Jhuddie Lyn Domingo, for the memories

and great experiences they have shared together the past four years, and for their

unending support, understanding and sharing of knowledge with one another.
