Final Student Self-Evaluation Summary

Name: ___________________________________ Semester: _____________________________________

Course: _________________________________ Clinical Site: ___________________________________

Identification of Strengths
My greatest strength in this clinical experience was my extensive inpatient/outpatient mental health background. Although the
hospital and environment was a little different, there were many similarities in practice. I was easily able to navigate the new system,
routine, and provided care. This left me more time to be able to concentrate on my patient, their issues, and working with the nursing
team. Another one of my strengths is my client interaction. I am able to have appropriate boundaries, keep professional space, and
offer self to the clients when needed. I am also good at recognizing signals that the patients give off through their body language,
mannerisms, and tone of voice. This greatly helped me through the semester at knowing when to talk, and when to observe. My other
greatest strength is my ability to research evidence based practices. Doing both of my presentations were directly in my skill
wheelhouse, and was able to execute them. I was also able to provide detailed information for my weekly clinical sheets, and the
assignments. This also played up to my ability to think critically, and navigate through the diagnosis.

Areas for Development

The areas where I could really use more development are just putting my knowledge into place on the units. To be able to do things
fluidly without having to look information up. This comes with repetition of skills in the workplace, more knowledge of the meds,
and more hands on learning. This is where I really retain information when practiced in the care setting. I also could use some
development on scheduling my schoolwork at home. Having to balance the multiple assignments from clinical, and
testing/assignments from the lecture classes is quite hard. This is an area where I could develop, and possibly get a schedule going to
aid me.

Plan for Improvement

My plan for improvement is first to get a study schedule going. Certain amount of hours each week dedicated to certain class tasks I
can be expecting through the next semester. Also making sure to take more time and do practice questions to prepare for graduation.
This is where Im lacking, is the time constraint. There are only so many hours in the day, and I feel I could do more research on how
to properly manage my studying. I am also going to spend more hours in the lab making sure my skills are perfected before
graduation.
