GENDER: Male
Having duty in the Surgery Ward is a very challenging experience. But it is so fun and this
help me enhance my skills. Not only my cognitive skills but my social skills. The room that was
assigned to us was great. The people there are so attentive and very cooperative. That is why we
can assess them properly. They are answering us politely and honestly. I can see that they are
happy that we are there to check for their vital signs. And to see us doing our job well and
passionately.
I am assigned to Mr. Ramon Dela Pena, a fifty six years old residence of Palanan, Isabela.
His case is Intra Abdominal Mass and needs a surgery as soon as possible. He and his wife
welcomes me full-heartedly. And that is such a great thing and in return I respect and serve them
properly. His wife said that “No matter what happens just keep your faith to our dear Almighty
God”. And that was such a great news to hear from your patient. That having a disease doesn’t
mean that you lose your faith. You must strengthen it further.
One thing that I observed is that the room is not spacious enough for the patients and
also for the visitors. That is why we need to fit ourselves on one side. To minimize the space and
deliver the healthcare more efficiently. And also some of the patients are not obeying the
doctor’s order which is not appropriate. Because one of the patient drink water even if he is NPO.
I recommend that the room would be spacious enough to occupy the patients and the
visitors. But all in all the room was great. And it has a quiet environment which is good for the
patients.
