February 15, 2019 before we have a Cleaning Program at Brgy.

Gasak, Ma'am Reivilyn and Ma'am Cath

Jingco orient us what we should do and they also told us what the purpose of what we are doing.

February 21, 2019 was the day that we are going to Barangay Gasak to have a cleaning program for our
National Service Training Program. But before we went to Brgy. Gasak, Ma'am Jingco gave us again
reminders about what we are going to do, that we have to be responsible and don't play around because
we might get hurt. After that, we start to clean the Brgy. Gasak. While we are cleaning, we met different
people and we experience their environment in a short period of time. At the end of our cleaning
operation, we meet the Barangay Captain of Brgy. Gasak, he gave us motivational speech that we must
study hard for our future and choose a good companion to avoid bad circumstances.

Last February 15, 2019, the professors of the local college (Polytechnic College of the City of
Meycauayan) conduct an orientation for the student to be more knowledgeable about the do's and
don'ts about the clean up drive that will be conducted on Brgy. Gasak, Meycauayan City, Bulacan. The
aim of the orientation is to give the students the knowledge on what are their responsibilities by going
on that place. In the orientation the professors gave us the instructions on how we will fill-up the waiver
for the parents and guardians consent so that our parents and guardians will be informed too.

The day had came 21st day of February the date that was supposed to be the clean up drive will be
conducted. We have a call time 8 in the morning but some of the students came late. The waiver form
had a lot of problems because some of the students left it on their house. After all the things that have
done we all go to the Brgy. Gasak. Then the people there inform us how and where place we need to
clean and they just informed the students that they are just a small barangay and more. After informing
us we just clean some places on the barangay. We cleaned the basketball court, then we cleaned some
fences of the houses their. We had a great experience even it's so humid that day. We almost cleaned
some parts of that barangay and the Barangay Captain of that place thank us for what we have done.

Our activity in National Service Training Program (NSTP) at Barangay Gasak, Meycauayan, Bulacan is
Cleaning Immersion, this kind is fun because we went outside of the school and help the people of Brgy.
Gasak to clean their area. If you consider the function of footpath and street sweeping you probably
think it’s all about keeping the streets looking good and safe in terms of removing waste and debris or
old things such as broken pieces and old objects. However it actually plays a more important role in
regards to the environment and our health.
Debris collected by street sweepers includes sediment, rubbish, metals, petroleum products and green
waste. Regular street sweeping reduces the likelihood of any of these pollutants entering our storm
water systems. By keeping the gutters and drains clear this also reduces the chances of flooding in the
event of heavy rain.

We cleaned the court, school side, front of the houses, roads, etc. Cleaning those places is not easy, you
have to endure the smell of the dog's poop, canal, and also the heat of the sun. But in other case we
were enjoying it because we are helping our environment and also it is part of our NSTP activity.

Cleaning outside or in the street is not an easy job, the hardest part of it is the heat of the sun especially
here in the Philippines. The best part of it is I am cleaning with my friends and also the feeling that we
are helping the people in Brgy. Gasak.

Cleanliness is a matter of diligence and effort by the people. Keeping public places as clean as possible is
an individual basis. Last February 21, 2019, we, the students of PCCM, under the subject of NSTP,
gathered to Barangay Gasak, City Of Meycauayan, Bulacan to have a clean up drive.

Our professors taught us how to be responsible in our community and environment. They told us what
we are going to do in Barangay Gasak. But first they provide us a waiver to inform our parents of what
are we going to do. Then every one of us go to the Barangay Gasak. First, they divided us into different
areas so that every area will be clean. We help the people living there to clean their barangay. Every one
of us sweep the streets and the basketball court. Some of us even clean the drainage. And even when
the weather is hot, we still continue and enjoyed cleaning the streets.

Doing this activity is indeed a great help to our community. It is important to have a clean environment,
because dirty environment can be the cause of our illnesses, and it is one of the causes of the air
pollution that is very bad to our health. Through this activity, we can now share our little action in a more
meaningful way. With this, we could influence everyone to have the same views about cleaning our
environment. And with this, we can help through our own little way to protect and maintain our natural
environment through clean-up drive.
