To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing on behalf of Candace Schilling and would like to highly recommend her for a
teaching position in your district. I had the pleasure of working directly with Candace as her
mentor teacher during her student teaching through Grand Canyon University at Vestaburg
Community Schools. We spent a great deal of time collaborating on best practices to benefit our
second-grade classroom.

This year’s second graders have dealt with a great deal of trauma and life experiences that
cause them to be challenging in a school setting. Candace accepts each of these students as
they are and fits her teaching to best meet their individual needs. I believe Candace’s previous
years of experience in the preschool classroom gave her a wonderful skillset to help her
influence these students. Her knowledge has equipped her with the patience to teach social and
emotional supports that will not only aid these students this year but in years to come.

Candace’s greatest accomplishment during her student teaching was gaining the self-
confidence to lead a classroom with grace and understanding. She is fair and consistent with
her students. Each child knows that she loves and cares for them by the respect and time she
gives to each of them. When she first started in the classroom, she was nervous and quiet.
Watching her grow and gain momentum as she became more comfortable in our setting was a
joy to behold. By the end of her time with us she was singing songs during transitions and
blooming into an engaging force the students couldn’t get enough of.

Candace is a dedicated teacher who spends a great deal of personal time thinking and planning
for her student's success. She practices and studies content so that she can plan for each
student all while accommodating their individual needs. I have seen test scores improve and
student abilities grow because Candace took the time to pour over her lessons and re-teach
when necessary. Candace is an asset to the classroom and would be an exceptional addition to
your teaching staff.

Sincerely,

Kate Drury

To Whom it May Concern:

Candace Schilling has worked in my preschool classroom for the last eight years as an
associate teacher. She has performed at the highest quality. As part of Great Start Readiness
Preschool, Mrs. Schilling taught large group, small group, planning and recall. She used My
Teaching Strategies Gold and Creative Curriculum. She participated in professional
development and was a team player.

Prior to being my associate teacher, Mrs. Schilling worked with me as an intervention specialist
in Title One. She was assigned first and second grade children to work with on intensive literacy
skill development. Mrs. Schilling used Six Minute Solutions, Read Well, Read Naturally and
DRA. She helped progress monitor students through DIBELs in first and second grade and PELI
in preschool. She developed baseline data, kept daily records of growth and changed
interventions as necessary for children. She met with me weekly to discuss progress and to
create lesson plans to support student growth.

Throughout her time with me, Mrs. Schilling has been given the responsibility of full teaching
status without the title. Mrs. Schilling conducted home visits with families, ran parent teacher
conferences, participated in family night activities and was responsible for securing positive
relationships with families. She worked above and beyond the classroom daily schedule and
took work home to complete for the classroom on a regular basis.

Mrs. Schilling worked as a co-teacher in every sense of the word while in the GSRP Preschool
and Title One with me. She learned quickly, conducted lessons based on best-practice and
assessed with formative and summative assessments. She invested herself in the success of
children and supported families in developing the best versions of themselves. She was an
asset and has been greatly missed in our team while student teaching. She is excellent in
teaching expectations and in following through with the expectations. She has taught multiple
lessons using the MTSS process. She is a teacher who will be of great value to building level
and classroom teams. It is time for her to have her own classroom and for her to shine with all
she knows and has learned. You would do beyond well to hire a teacher of Mrs. Schilling’s
abilities.

Sincerely,

Karen Gostomski
To whom it may concern:

I am pleased to recommend, Candace Schilling, who has been a member of our staff for 9 years,
as a candidate for an elementary teaching position. As principal of Vestaburg Elementary School,
I have had the pleasure of seeing her grow as a paraprofessional and a student teacher.

Candace has had many opportunities to show her professional mannerisms within our school.
Her most recent role was an associate teacher in a preschool classroom where she was able to
demonstrate both leadership and a passion for children. Candace also organized the safety patrol
group within our elementary. She has an outstanding rapport with her students and colleagues.

Candace is a joy to work with because of her positive attitude and ability to never give up on a
child. She has commitment and empathy for all students. As a staff member, Candace was
pleasant and cooperative. She has a delightful sense of humor and contributed much to the staff,
both professionally and socially.

I can highly recommend Candace for an elementary teaching position within your school. This
committed educator will make a huge contribution to whichever school she teaches at next. If
you need more information from me, you may call me at this number, 989-245-1051 or email me

Emily Groulx
