1. Discuss the “Components of Information System.”

 People Resources
The end users perform the input operation & transmit the information required using
people resources.
 Hardware Resources
It includes resources such as computers & peripherals which are used to process data.
 Software Resources
It includes resources such as operating system, WordPress or spreadsheets which contain
the instructions for processing data.
 Data Resources
It include resources such as databases & knowledge bases which perform the activity of
storing data.
 Network Resources
Resources (fibre optic cables, modems, routers etc.) aid in communicating information &
data over internet, extranet.

2. Discuss the need & Objective of MIS.

The need of MIS is due to following reasons:


 Globalization of Business
It provides support to management to take timely decisions which help in increasing
competitiveness by analyzing their business needs & requirements.
 Humongous amount of Data processing
It provides support to manage huge amount of data which can be used to find patterns and
relationships in data through associations, trends & forecast of demand.

The main objective of MIS is to assist management in decision making. It aids in


providing strategic planning, management & operation control. Its objective is to utilize
internal & external data to support decision making.

3. Discuss about “Ideal ERP System”.

An ideal ERP is system is when a single database containing all data is created & utilized
for various software modules which includes following:
 Manufacturing
Engineering, capacity, workflow management, bill of controls etc.
 Finance & Accounts
Accounts payable & receivable, fixed assets, general ledgers, cash management etc.
 Human Resources
Benefits, payroll, time, attendance, training etc.
 Supply Chain Management
Inventory, supply chain planning, supplier scheduling, order entry, claim processing,
purchasing etc.
 Projects
Costing, billing, activity management, time & expense etc.
 Customer Relationship Management
Sales & Marketing, service commissions, customer contact, call Centre support etc.
 Data warehouse
Accessed by organization’s customers, suppliers or employees.
