c. Hold the green handle of the drum unit. Pull the drum unit out until it stops.
NOTE: If you cannot pull the drum unit out, make sure that the front cover is fully
open.
d. On the sticker, underneath the word brother is a bar code and a 20 digit alphanumeric
number. Verify that the serial number is 20 digit alpha numerics. The toner serial
number starts with "TK" for black, "TY" for Yellow, "TM" for Magenta and "TC" for
Cyan.
If the white sticker with brother or the serial number format does not match the format
above, it appears to be using a non-Brother toner. Advice the customer it appears this is
not a genuine Brother Toner cartridge. Inform the customer using non-Brother drum
units and/or toner cartridges may cause hardware performance, print quality, and
machine reliability issues. Genuine Brother Drum unit and toner cartridges are designed
to work at pre-set temperatures that are matched exactly to each of our individual toner
formulations. Because it appears we are not the manufacturer of the toner, we cannot
guarantee the performance and reliability of the toner. In order to proceed with repair
further, customer has to install genuine Brother Toner cartridge

d. Slide the green tab to the right so that the green tab is in the center. Verify that the
corona wire is not broken. The corona wire is a very thin wire that connects from one
end to the other and it will be difficult to notice the wire, the green tab is attached to
the wire so if you move the green tab slightly you will notice the wire.
If the corona wire is broken, replace drum unit. Drum unit has a 90 day
warranty. Verify the purchase date of the machine or drum unit and if within
90 day warranty period. Order drum unit for replacement. If outside of 90 day
warranty, customer has to replace drum unit.
If the corona wire is not broken, continue to next step
