One way to deal with long „floats“ Pattern repeat is worked 5 times across
(unused strands at the back of your work) the round.
is by twisting the strands. Break CC.

For example: Round 24 – decreasing round
In round 2 you will have to work *k2tog, k18*, repeat from * to * 7 more
an 9-stitch stretch of MC. times to the end of the round –
Knit 3 sts, twist the two strands, 8 sts decreased, 152 sts remain.
knit the next 3 sts, twist the two strands
in the other direction, knit the last 3 sts. Knit in the round for about 12-14 rnds
or until your work measures about
9.5-10 cm (3.7-3.9“)
INSTRUCTIONS measured from the increasing round
(top oft he brim).
Cast On, Rib (I worked 14 rnds for a mens version and
12 rnds for mine).
With the smaller needles and MC, using
the long tail cast on, CO 148 sts. Knit 6-7 additional rounds (or even more)
Join for working in the round, being if you prefer a slouchy hat.
careful not to twist the stitches, PM.
The round begins in the middle of the
back of the hat. Shape crown
(change to DPNs as necessary)
Round 1 – *p1, k1*, repeat from * to * to
the end of the round. Set up round = decreasing round
Repeat R 1 for another 34 rnds or until *k17, k2tog*, repeat from * to *
the rib measures approx. 7-8 cm (2.8-3.2 7 more times to the end of the round,
inches). (8 sts decreased, 144 sts remain).

(If you wish a simple, unfolded brim, Rnds 1+2 – knit.
repeat R 1 for about 12-14 rnds until the
rib measures approx. 3-3.5 cm (1.2-1.4 Rnd 3
inches)). *k10, k2tog*, repeat from * to *
11 more times to the end of the round,
Change to larger needles. (12 sts decreased = 132 sts remain).

Increasing round Rnds 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 –
*k12, M1, k12, M1, k13, M1*, repeat from knit.

sts. *k9, k2tog*, repeat from * to *
11 more times to the end of the round,
(12 sts decreased = 120 sts remain).
Follow colorwork chart
Rnd 7
Reading it form the right to the left, and *k8, k2tog*, repeat from * to *
from the bottom to the top, work rounds 11 more times to the end of the round,
1-23 of the colorwork chart. (12 sts decreased = 108 sts remain).
Join in CC yarn in round 2.
