SECTION 16295: PROTECTIVE RELAYS – SR269 Plus

SECTION 26 09 13.13: PROTECTIVE RELAYS – SR269 Plus

NOTE TO THE SPECIFIER: The following specification is intended to be used as a

complement to an existing section (either the device section or as a subset of an
equipment section). Insert the following into Part 2 of the base specification.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1 MOTOR PROTECTION RELAYS

A. Motor protection and management shall be provided by a digital relay. Provide

the General Electric type 269 Plus relay or approved equal.

B. Protective functions shall include:

1. Phase overload standard curves (51)

2. Overload by custom programmable curve (51)

3. I2t modeling (49)

4. Stator overtemperature/bearing overtemperature with 10 independent

RTD inputs (49)

5. Negative sequence unbalance/ single phase (46)

6. Phase reversal (47)

7. Starts per hour and time between starts (48)

8. Short circuit (50)

9. Ground fault (50G/50N/51 G/51 N)

10. Undercurrent (37)

11. Mechanical jam/stall

C. Management functions shall include:

1. Statistical data

2. Pre-trip data

D. A metering option shall be available as a separate unit that communicates with

the relay which may be field installed without modification to the relay. The
metering option can be used with any relay where diagnosis or load
measurements are required and shall also provide isolated analog outputs for
average RMS amps, kW, kvar and PF.

E. With the meter option, the relay shall be capable of displaying important
metering functions, including phase voltages, kilowatt, kilovar, power factor,
frequency and MWhr. In addition undervoltage (27) and low power factor alarm
and trip levels shall be field programmable.
