Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

Currently at the time of writing this I am pursuing a Secondary Education degree with

hope of getting a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. In order to be accepted into the

program I am required to have passing scores Math, Reading and Writing. A passing score for

Math is 150, Reading is 156 and Writing is 162. To teach P.E. in school I must also past tests in

the Physical Education Content and Design test as well as Principles of Teaching and Learning

7-12. Passing scores for the Physical Education exam is a 167 and for Teaching and Learning a

157. If I do not pas these tests, I will not be accepted into a teaching program.

Exam Preparation

In preparation for this exam I have briefly read through the “Praxis Core for Dummies”

but have not done preparing like I really should have. Since I am taking the exam in a couple

months, I will be taking the studying more seriously because teaching is something I really

would like to do.

Exam Results

When taking the practice exams, I underperformed compared to where I need to be. I

believe part of the reason for getting the scores I did was due to very little preparation as well as

feeling rushed when taking the exams. This is all information I have learned in the past and

maybe just need a refresher to get the information fresh in my mind.

Future Exam Preparation

Since I did now perform to the level that I needed this will be motivation to take

studying more seriously. I plan to take the praxis exam halfway through the spring semester, so

this gives me plenty of time to study the material needed. The questions on the practice tests did

not seem very hard but I do need to take more time to answer each question and freshen up on

my material.
