Weston-Super-Mare, Beach/Promenade
Permissions Needed
No permissions needed as is a public area, so as long as we are respectful of
the area no contact details will need to be necessary for this location.

Traffic Problems
We do have the issue of traffic problems as there is a road nearby, but we can
try to deal with this by filming as far away from the road as possible, and also
research into when the peak traffic days and times for each week are so that
we can try and work around it and film and the most convenient time where
the traffic is most gentle in that area.

Local Conditions
In terms of local conditions, The Weather could affect our filming as it is at a
beach meaning wind could be a big problem so to prevent this we could try
and shield the mic with a foam or fur cover which will drown out the
background sound of the wind against the microphone. We would also need to
check weather predictions in advance to filming as we would with any location
that is outdoors, to make sure we are able to film on an if possible clear and
dry day.

Intrusions
There will be a minimum of general interruptions as there are no train tracks
near enough to be heard when trains pass and our research shows there are
no or direct flight paths above our area. Although there is the issue of passer-
by interruptions as it is a public area so this is a non-preventable interruption.
But we can try and minimize this from being an issue by just staying out of the
way from the public as much as possible where we wouldn’t be in anyone’s
way.
Continuity
We aren’t majorly concerned about continuity issues as where we are filming there isn’t any
indicators that I feel will affect continuity; for example, no roadworks or construction
working (scaffolding etc) are due to be in action on our set filming dates or around it. There
is, with most public locations the risk of a new poster or a billboard updated in a day where
we have a break from filming but from how we have practiced our set up there are no
advertisements like that around us In shot so we don’t have to worry about that being
changed. Obviously, we can’t guarantee there won’t be vandalism/graffiti that wasn’t there
before in shot as there is a wall behind us in our possible location but it is highly unlikely and
is our only possible concern.

Electricity/Lighting Issues/Sound
We won’t necessarily need a electricity supply of any sort but to be safe we could use the
idea of bringing a power bank to charge the camera batteries as a backup in case it dies but
typically we would make sure BOTH our cameras are on full battery charge before we bring
them out and so the power bank would be just in case. As we are in a outside public area we
won’t have any access of power source to wire our equipment in so we need to make sure
we have planned with that in mind, for example, meaning that we can’t bring a filming light
to shoot with as there is no source to power it. So, we will have to light our filming with just
the natural light. But as we are outside as long as we film at good lighting time of day
(midday 11-4:30) we should have good natural lighting for the camera without any artificial
sources.

Set Dressing
Our setup has everything we want/need to show in our scene so there isn’t really anything
else that we need to add to it to have any different type of affect or impact. As the
documentary is based on the Tropicana and Weston the raw and natural shots for the
interview/Vox pops background with nothing added fits better with the theme.

Welfare
Nearby there are lots of places that crew can have access to the essentials. There are many
shops and food/refreshments and also toilets in very accessible distance to where we have
planned to film. No crew will have to stay overnight to be near to the location as everyone is
somewhat local and has an easy way of getting there.

Parking/Public transport to location

There is a bus Route from college straight to our location and there is a bus stop very nearby
to the location so it is very easy for us to get to and from there being at home or at college.
There is parking that is somewhat local to the location that has fee but that doesn’t affect
any of our crew as none of us drive so we will just get public transport which is very
assessable.
