L-Objective: To describe the function of each reproductive parts of a plant.


II- Subject Matter:
Grade 4: Function of Reproductive Parts of a Plant.
Grade 5&6: How do plants reproduce?

Instructional Procedures:

A. Preliminary Activities
Prayer, Greetings

Review: Look at these vertebrates and find out how they reproduce.

Motivation

Let the pupils look for the missing pieces of jigsaw puzzle under their chairs.
All grade 4 pupils will form a picture of a flower and grade 5 & 6 will form a picture
of a non-flowering plant. They will paste it on the board. The group will report their
outputs after 5 minutes.

Ask:
What are your observations about the pictures on the board?
Have you seen these kind of plants?
What do you know about plants?
How do these plants reproduce?
What are the importance of plants?

Developmental Activities

1. Presenting the lesson

Presentation:

Say: Our lesson for today is about the reproduction of plants. Plants have
different ways in reproduction. Let us watch a video clip on how plants
reproduce.

Plants reproduce through sexual and asexual reproduction.


Some plants reproduce through their pollen grains, seeds or spores
and some are by vegetative reproduction.
Discussion: (Powerpoint Presentation)

Let the pupils watch a short video clip using laptop and projector.

b. What are the reproductive organs of a flowering plant?
c. How do non-flowering plants reproduce?

Application:

Asking practical questions for application of concepts and skills in daily living.

You saw a group of boys and girls picking flowers in the park. They made fun of
these by removing the petals one by one. What would you tell them? Why are
flowers important to plants?

Nina took a walk in the garden and saw a small plant with feather-like
arrangements of leaves. She was amazed upon looking at the undersides of the
leaves and immediately gathered the blackish brown spots found in it. Did Nina
show the right behavior? Why?

A. Group Activity

Group the students into two groups, let them answer the activity given by the
teacher. (Activity sheets)

Analization: Analyze their output. Group Reporting

What are the parts of a plant that help them to reproduce?

Generalization:

a. How do plants without seed reproduce?


b. What are the difference between flowering plants and no-flowering plants
in terms of reproduction?
c. How can we help to ensure the survival of the plants?
