Moral Issue of Suicide

The Catholic church teaches the public about the many positive and negative
points in life, and how to face those points as well. One of those teachings specifically
directs towards a negative point in life that greatly affects present society: suicide.
Suicide is unfortunately a common threat of life and a very dangerous aspect to even
think about. As the selfish human beings, we are, we are prone to think about suicide
when we face difficult obstacles such as greatly embarrassing ourselves, losing
someone we really love, or losing something inside of ourselves. People start to feel as
if they are no longer needed in the world and have no purpose in life. The fifth
commandment in the Ten Commandments is "thou shalt not kill" and this implies that
killing anyone, including ourselves, is a sin since God gave us a life with purpose, but
not everyone may have found their purpose yet.
Everyone in the world is part of a society, but again, each and every one of those
societies have people who do wrong things including committing suicide. It is nearly
impossible to find a place in the world where at least one person has committed suicide.
Many people throughout humankind history, including kids, teens, adults and elderly,
have sadly and shockingly ended their life by themselves and caused devastation
towards their families and friends. It is terrible and scarring how people can just easily
give in to their fears and problems and making suicide their last option in life to end all
their mental and sometimes physical pain and despair. Commonly, kids and teens end
their lives because they may miss someone they love who passed away so much that
they want to be with them, or they've been bullied and they cannot handle it anymore,
etc. Adults and elders commonly end they lives due to struggles with careers or
complicated family/friends’ issues. Some people in the world may think that the death of
one person, who is not related to them anyway, committing suicide doesn't affect them
at all, but it does. The whole world is like one big family, and some people may not
believe, but it is okay! As long as one or more people have that thought, the bigger the
chance we have to convince those who don't care that whatever our family's problem is,
we are related to that someway. Imagining yourself committing suicide is bad, but if you
did, wouldn't the people who loved you be in grief and in pain? Well, that pain and
suffering they endure is because of you have done. Just imagine the possibility of
someone you loved or knew did that. We would feel the same as the people who loved
you if you committed that act of crime yourself.
