Having a teaching philosophy will help to shape the future of my career as an educator, it

will reflect who I am as an individual and how I want to help mould the minds of tomorrow. A

few key characteristics that I want to embody when teaching in my classroom include positivity,

confidence, kindness, and openness. I believe that having a safe and open environment for

students to learn becomes an essential component of students accessing their knowledge. When I

envision myself in my classroom, I illustrate a teacher who is warm and encouraging. An

important factor for myself is that my students want to come to school; they enjoy being in my

classroom and learning new things each day. I also understand the reality that we live in, we are

humans and so are our students, we are not all going to have good days, every day of our lives

but I pursue to support those students through difficult times and teach them important lessons

that they can use in and outside of the classroom. When creating an environment such as the one

I strive to create, the atmosphere becomes a necessary element. My classroom will be bright and

engaging while also calming. Guidelines will be set in place to influence kindness between

students; this will help to create a community where every student will feel secure. Through my

previous life experience I have been introduced to holistic ideas such as meditation, mindfulness

and yoga. This is a big part of my life and I plan to incorporate it into my classroom, introducing

techniques for students to feel calm and focused. During my education 2500 practicum I had

learned about curriculum techniques that combine multiple subjects and learning outcomes into

one project, a difficult and intimidating task yet a goal I will try to attain. Classroom

management is still a new concept for myself and I am excited to learn more about how to
successfully manage a classroom. I believe knowing your students and when to change your

plans is an important task that comes in handy when handling your classroom. Just like knowing

your students you need to also know their parents. Parents are intimidating yet, very resourceful

when it comes to teaching their children in the best way possible. Communicating effectively

with parents will help to connect your students with their learning, being able to discuss how

their kids are doing and what steps we can take to benefit their son or daughter will help in long-

term goals. Students, parents and teachers all become part of a community that influence our

future generations. Involving the community will be an important part of my classroom,

introducing a diverse range of cultural, environmental and societal resources will help to provide

insight into historical and current issues into these students lives. I believe it is important to

understand the world around you, I encourage each student to develop his or her own ideas,

thoughts and perceptions surrounding the society we live in today and grow from each lesson

they encounter.
