LESSON PLAN IN GRADE 11- GENERAL CHEMISTRY 1

Content Standard
The learners demonstrate an understanding of formulas and names of
compounds

Learning Competencies/Objectives
The learner shall be able to represent compounds using chemical formulas,
structural formulas and models. STEM_GC11AM-Ic-e-21

I. OBJECTIVES:
The learner should be able to:
1. name ternary compounds;
2. write formulas on ternary compounds;
3. apply the concept to real-life situations; and
4. participate actively in the class discussion.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:

A. Topic: Naming and Writing Ternary Compounds
B. Learning Resources:
1. General Chemistry by Raymond Chang, pp 134-136
2.https://www.chem.purdue.edu/gchelp/nomenclature/poly_ato
m.html
C. Materials:
LED TV, Laptop Computer, Flaglets, Chalk
III. PROCEDURES:
A. Review
The students are expected to review the rules in naming ionic
compounds.
B. Establishing a purpose for the lesson:
The concept of SEA Games 2019 will be presented to the group
as springboard for the discussion.
C. Presenting examples/instances of the new lesson:
The concept of SEA Games 2019 will be presented to the group
as spring board for the discussion.
D. Discussing concepts and practicing new skills # 1:
The students will be having an activity called Eggciting. The students are
task to raise their corresponding flag after naming the ternary compound.
The first group to give the correct answer will have the chance to have
another 1 gold by playing the “Egg” game.
F. Developing Mastery:
The students are task to write the formula of ternary compounds. The
students will be grouped into 3 members. Power test will be done.

G. Finding practical applications of concepts and skills in daily

life:
The teacher will provide ternary compounds with their
corresponding uses that may apply to the life of students.

H. Making Generalization and abstraction about the lesson:

The students are task to identify the steps in naming and writing
formulas of ternary compounds.
IV. Evaluating Learning
A 10-item quiz will be given to the students on writing formulas and naming
ternary compounds.

V. AGREEMENT
Bring all the materials needed for the scheduled experiment.
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned 80% in the
evaluation
B. No. of learners who required additional
activities for remediation?
C. Did the remedial lessons work? No. of
learners who have caught up with the
lesson
D. No. of learners who continue to require
remediation?
E. Which of my teaching strategies worked
well? Why did these work?
F. What difficulties did I encounter which my
principal or supervisor can help me solve?
G. What innovation or localized materials did I
use/discover which I wish to share with
other teachers?
