METHODOLOGY

This chapter of the study provides information of all the materials used in conducting

the study. The materials will describe the software and hardware used in the development of

the system and it explains how the materials are prepared. The methods provide the detailed

steps and procedures on how the system was made.

Materials

The following computer specifications to be used in developing the proposed system:

CPU: Intel Core i7-7500U with a GPU: NVIDIA GeForce MX110 (2GB GDDR5) with,

RAM: 8GB DDR4, 2400 MHz and have an OS: Windows 10.

The software to be used are: Java as programming language; PHP for the web-

based specifications of the system; XAMPP, Apache and MySQL for the back end.

The phone used in testing had the following specifications:

OS: Android 6.0 (Marshmallow), upgradable to Android 8.0 (Oreo); CPU: Octa-core

(4cx2.3 GHz Mongoose and 4x1.6 GHz Cortez-A53).

Methods

Figure 2 Prototyping Model

Prototyping is a type development methodology wherein a model is quickly

constructed to test and illustrate the desired features and ideas of the developers in order to

gather user feedback as fast as possible. Subsequent models were created.

Planning

In this phase, the researcher works through the design process to create the

architecture and design and prepares work plans, cost estimates, and schedules for the

various deliverables and in this phase also where the researcher gather the problems

encountered by the department chairperson of Department of Information Technology in

Cavite State University about class observation. the researchers conducted a data gathering

in Cavite State University- Main Campus, searched in the internet and generated interview

questionnaire that helped to identify the problems to be solve in the study.

Analysis design implementation

This is the initial phase of the development process where in the development team

works closely with the user to determine the user’s requirements for the system. This is

where the researchers analyze the problem to have a solution to encountered problems

from the previous phase. This phase identifies the functionality, performance levels,

establish the Graphical User Interface (GUI) and the Conversational User Interface (CUI)

and other characteristics which the system must satisfy in order for it to be acceptable to the

user. The design phase identifies of formulating modules for the system; Account Module;

Report Module; Evaluation Module and Dashboard Module.

System prototype

In this phase the researcher should meet the requirements of the beneficiary for able

to solve the problem, this is where the researcher will base on the previous phase because

this is where the researcher will begin to put functions on the design and the researcher will

evaluate the system to know if there are bugs or errors of the system.

Implementation

The researchers will about to provide a system to the respondents to see if the

system reached the goal of the system which is to solve the encountered problems, during

this phase all types of functional testing like unit testing, integration testing, system testing,

acceptance testing is done. This is where the researchers will test the software itself, it

involves testing of each module as this is the most efficient way to debug the errors at this

stage. it is tested against the requirements to make sure that the product is actually solving

the needs addressed and gathered during the analysis phase. The researcher will see if the

system meets the user satisfaction or not, the suggestions or feedbacks from the

respondents will be used to improve the system so that the system will meet the expected

output base on the feedbacks.

System

In this phase, the researchers already solved the problems encountered. The system

can be used by the Department Chairman of Department of Information Technology in

Cavite States University.

Population, Sample Size, and Sampling Technique

The target population for this research defined to include the one (1) Department

Chairman in Department of Information Technology of Cavite State University-Main, for the

interview, the Department Chairman is the most capable respondent. This is achieved by

providing interview questionnaire. The department chairman was chosen because it is the

one who conduct evaluation of each faculty members in their department.

The researchers used Purposive Sampling technique in choosing their respondents.

A purposive sample is a non-probability sample that is selected based on characteristics of a

population and the objective of the study. Purposive sampling is different from convenience

sampling and is also known as judgmental, selective, or subjective sampling. (Ashley

Crossman, 2019).

Instrumentation

Interview questionnaires were used by the researchers to answer the statement of

the problem. The respondents were instructed to answer the questions appropriately and to

provide thorough responses. The researchers provided spaces for the department chairman

to provide the name and signature.

The researchers used the primary sources of data and secondary sources of data.

Most questions in the interview questionnaire is answered by explain the personal

experiences of the chairman during/after the class observation. The primary source of data

is the interview questionnaire; the interview questionnaire has one (1) part, the questionnaire

focused on department chairman point of view, how the department chairman conduct class

observation and the common problems that he encountered during before/after/during class
observation. This is where the researchers test the problems of the respondents about

conducting class observation and the secondary sources of data are the internet and any

other related study.
