Position Description:
Texas Tech University (TTU) is a dynamic Carnegie Very High Research Activity (R1)
institution, and recently achieved designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI).
It has an enrollment of over 38,000 students, and is one of the major, state-
supported, multidisciplinary universities in the Southwestern United States.
The successful candidate will enter a dynamic research and academic environment
with many opportunities to collaborate with scientists whose interests span a diverse
range of disciplines. Candidates should be able to apply a wide range of analytical
and high-throughput proteomics techniques to diverse environmental and human
health scenarios. A PhD degree in molecular toxicology/biology or a related field is
required.Postdoctoral training, significant scholarly accomplishments, and a
demonstrated ability to apply for research funding are desired. Candidates with a
strong background in applied analytical proteomics as related to one or more areas
of environmental and/or human health science will receive preference for this
position. However, qualified candidates with non-proteomic, molecular
toxicology/biology backgrounds are welcome to apply. Candidates must demonstrate
a strong record of scholarship supported by peer-reviewed publications, preferably
regarding toxicological proteomics and/or metabolomics, and clear potential to
develop a nationally recognized research program supported by competitive
extramural funding. Candidates with current grant funding, senior author
publications, experience of supervising graduate students and teaching may be
considered for the rank of Associate Professor.
Additionally, the preferred candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both
independently and collaboratively on applied research that complements current
faculty interests, posess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and play
a key role in an interdisciplinary team of investigators.
The successful candidate will be required to teach graduate level courses including,
but not limited to, "Principles of Toxicology" and "Analytical Toxicology" courses.
Experience with teaching analytical research methods, and/or Principles of Toxicology
is advantageous. A demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student
populations is highly desirable, an ongoing duty to serving diverse student
populations is requisite. Service to the department, college, university, and
community is also expected.
