I. Objectives:

A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding on how Anglo-American literature


and other text types serve as means of connecting to the world; also how to use ways of analysing one-act
play and different forms of verbals for him/her skilfully perform in a one-act play.

B. Performance Standard: The learner skilfully performs in one-act play through utilizing effective
verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery,
and Dramatic Conventions.

C. Learning Competencies:
* Use verbals( EN9G-IIIa-21) Recognize infinitive and its uses

IV. Procedures:
Preliminaries: Prayer, Class routine
A. Review of the past lesson or presenting the new lesson
Play "Verb Charades" in small groups
A charade will be played by two groups with five (5) members each.(5mins.) Best of three.
1. Line-up horizontally, First member will pick-out a card and act the verb written on it then tap the
second member.
2. Second until the fourth member will guess the verb and act it as well to the other members.
3. Last member will be the one to complete the answer with the given blanks on the board.

B. Establish purpose of the lesson


At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
 Determine the correct use of infinitives
 Help the student demonstrate their understanding about infinitive through differentiated task
 Show concern and helpfulness to others in times of need.

C. Presenting examples / instances of the new lesson


Infinitive is a verbal that begins with to followed by the base form of the verb.
*base form of the verb does not add s, es, ing or ed.
Examples: to dance, to run, to give, to sing, to walk and to share
Infinitive together with its modifiers and complement is called infinitive phrase.
Examples: to run the marathon, to dance gracefully, to walk the whole day, to share your blessings,
to give whole-heartedly
Infinitives can be used as nouns, adjectives or adverbs.
To eat on time will prevent ulcer. (Infinitive as noun)
note: As nouns, infinitives can be used as subject, object and complement.

The person to consult about the book is my publisher. (Infinitive as adjective)

D. Developing Mastery
This is from the book, "Leven Thumps and the Whispered Secret": "Within each Ring of
Plague Sabine had organized, there was a complete assortment of powers: one to fight
with ice, one to see through soil, one to throw lightning, one to fly, one to fade, one to
shrink, one to breathe fire, one to run like the wind, one to burrow, one to see through
rock, one to levitate objects, and one to push and bind dreams."

Make a Sentence. Do a Sentence Strip activity with the class so students can practice using verbs and
expressions that go with infinitives. Make a set for each pair of students.
Sentence Strips:
My mother asked me / to help her. Do you agree / to go with me?
She convinced me / to go to the party. Have you decided / to come with us?
We hope / to see you there. They plan / to have a party.
You promised / to play with me. Remind me / to bring my books.
She told us / not to arrive late. Do you want / to sit here?

E. Finding Practical Applications of Concepts and Skills in daily living.


1. Present a dialogue with infinitive (group 3)
2. Make a diagram on coping with bullying with the use of infinitives (group 1)
3. Perform a song and identify the infinitive in it (group 5)
4. Create a board game about infinitives (group 2)
5. Create a poem using infinitives (group 4)
